Old Town Road to EGOT

I started listening to How Did This Get Made in like...2011 or 2012? Stayed with it for a few years until it became unlistenable in 2015, which coincidentally is the same year I started listening to WHM.

Yea, I used to listen to The Flophouse. It had its moments but I got tired of it after a while. I've stuck with WHM for like 6 years now.

:same:

The problem with the Flophouse, is what I run into with a bunch of other podcasts, they become popular, and then their heads get stuck up their asses. I used to like the Greatest Generation until the same thing happened to them, the Nexus is way better.

I don't see any POTC episodes anywhere. Where are you seeing this? Just catching up since the pandemic, and the latest prime episode I see is Sleazebag Vampires and the latest patreon is Wilford Brimley vs. The Thing.

How Did This Get Made is a podcast made by the kind of people who thought Quibi was a good idea

I had given a few of those other movie podcasts a listen but none of them are like WHM. There's something about WHM's mix of their own friendship, their jokes including all their weird impressions and tangents, their analysis of the movie itself, etc. Nothing is as comfy as We Hate Movies. It doesn't stop at movies, though. I could listen to these guys talk about anything.

I had to stop watching 90210 at the beginning of season 5, not only because everyone is stunningly stupid and hateful and idiotic, but because the subplot with Andrea and Jesse nearly losing their kid was too real
Now I’m watching married...with children and am much happier

I legit can't tell if one part on the latest 90210 half was true or not and that's the best part

"Chris just sends his tracks from this show with names like 'kill all brandons superPAC' or 'i hate brandon' every week." "Kill All Brandons SuperPAC was really a highlight."

Don't worry, I've had the same problem.

For whatever reason, their "main" website lags behind with new episodes and poo poo, even if they're not behind a paywall. Seems/feels like there's like 4 different places with content but lately I've just settled on Headgum as my go to and that seems to list everything I get as a $5 Patreon member. They seem to have different poo poo all over the place.

Also, I don't know if it's just me getting burned out on binging their poo poo or whatever but I feel like they've been slipping a little bit. It's still one of my favorite podcasts but The Thing and Cool As Ice I didn't think were that great and I know absolutely nothing about Melrose Place or 90210 so it's hard for me get into those.

I asked them on Twitter about it. Their website is rarely used by people and has to be updated manually. The website someone linked earlier is their automatic feed.

You should feel ashamed.
I mean, I've only seen a handful of 90210 episodes in passing and never watched any Melrose Place but I think the Melr0210 episodes are hilarious.

Knowledge of a thing isn't a prerequisite for finding it stupid and hilarious.

I can tell you one thing; it is entirely possible to put two contacts into the same eye.

The trick is, most people don't realize that it's possible for a contact to slide deeper into you eye and get lost, and assume it must have fallen out.

Also, have a contact stuck in your eye is just the worst thing ever.

Man i had contacts like 20 years ago, and one night I was trying to take one out and it just wouldn't go, I was sitting there like crying and pinching my fingers into my raw, red eye for an hour. loving miserable.

I remember doing that one night whilst drunk and eventually gave up and went to bed because it was hurting too much and I just couldn't get it out. Next morning I spotted it on the carpet where it had fallen out earlier; I'd just been pinching my bare eyeball trying to remove a contact that wasn't there.

I have this exact same story except I took it out, pissed, and was so drunk I forgot I took it out. It was so brutal.

I had them for so long I got very used to and very good at sliding them out from under your eyelid when they stick up under there.

Fair enough, but it was the only time it happened in 15 years of wearing them and I was drunk to the point I could have easily injured myself with a pair of spectacles too.

i don't really like HTDGM on the whole, but they do one interesting thing that i simultaneously wish WHM would adopt, realize that WHM can't adopt, and also realize that if WHM could adopt it they probably wouldn't be as good of a show

essentially, it's the fact that they sometimes manage to snag people who were actually involved with the movie they're talking about, like having Lexi Alexander on to talk about Punisher War Zone (which is the only HDTGM episode I've actually liked)

on the one hand, it'd be fun as hell if WHM could get someone who directed a given movie to guest; on the other hand, if they had the kind of industry connections that make that possible, they'd probably have to start softballing everything and relying on way dumber and less incisive jokes, like how 90% of HDTGM's jokes are "June Diane Raphael pretends she's an idiot who can't comprehend movies"

I think my favorite Patreon moment was during the Ready Player One episode when Steve Sajdak reads Ernest Cline's poem "Nerd Porn Auteur".

None of their others, except maybe the MacClunkey derail in Empire Strikes Back, made me laugh that hard.

I can't believe how much they've stepped up their game during all this bullshit. So much content, and their remote setup sounds better than any podcast I've heard.

Also I was theorizing in my about their Patreon, they're up to 7000 patrons now. I wonder what percentage is on which tier? I would imagine most are at the $5 level, and if that's the case, divided evenly the guys are pulling 6 figures from their funny movie podcast. I'm really happy for them.

yea I'm obviously not gonna poo poo on anyone getting a bit behind in planning what with the goddamn global plague washing over us and all, but WHM and the Pathfinder podcast I listen to both actually adding stuff to the lineup despite it has been really good to keep me sane.

On the other side of things, Ballin Out Super, the dragon ball podcast, has gone absolutely Quarantine Quazy and boy is that great in a different way. It's nice to have variety since the WHM boys have kept their sanity and can't provide that kind of entertainment, except when Steve got kidnapped by Bane.

I'm going to have to go on Twitter and thank Steve, because after listening to SteveBane I used the Bane voice on my almost 4 year old daughter, and she thinks it's the funniest loving thing in the world. "Oh, you think Mickey Mouse is your ally?" She's been running up to me, saying, "Do Bane! Do Bane! Where's Mr. Bane?" Really helping her with the quarantine cabin fever.
