tbf, a turbocharger is a pretty substantial chunk of metal which given enough velocity could do a real number on a Subaru, running or not.

I used to work at a place that did the warranty work, and that place still slings me every warranty repair because they hate working on them.

Granted I've only seen 2 this year. A DOA after literally 10 metres (self propel one) and the second the over-temp sensor within the battery hosed up and read a false positive that the battery was having a melt down.

They are a complete pain to work on, and the warranty company has one tech support guy for service agents to organise parts from. And that dumb bastard kept sending me ESCs to fix a problem that I repeatedly told was within the safety switch in the handle.

Much like any Bosch appliance - they work great until they dont.

(To clarify - I do also own an Ego, so not like I hate them completely) - bonus is mine is slowly getting a pile of parts to become self aware (brains of an LG robo vacuum)

Or go with the "just the flu" argument... except that this is ANOTHER flu that has killed more in 2 months than the "normal" flu does in a year.

Is that supposed to make it better?

On one hand you have 30,000 fewer intentional homicides annually, but on the other it means we have a not-insignificant number of suicidal people with easy access to firearms walking around.

Gun people will tell you that those people would have just found other, more creative ways to kill themselves. Anti gun people will tell you that without ready access to firearms many spur of the moment decisions to end one's life would not be successfully carried out.

I generally think that there's probably a combination of the two - suicidal people will find ways to kill themselves absent firearms, but firearms are rapid, easy to use, and irreversible which certainly increases the number of successful attepmts.

Per the CDC you have around 24k firearm suicides, 13k by suffocation, and 6.5k by poisoning. If you look at the stats by state, most suicides are in rural areas where people tend to be more isolated. It's not surprising they'd use a firearm as firearm ownership is very high in these areas, but it's impossible to quantify how many of those people would have used a different method. Undoubtedly there are cases that would not have occurred if they didn't own a firearm, but you can look at other countries' rates and see that places with strict gun control can still have higher rates than the US.

The problem with saying "X number people died in shootings" is it is intentionally misleading and used to inflate the number of firearm homicides. If I said "so and so just died in a shooting," how many people would assume anything other than a homicide? You can argue that lower firearm ownership would lower the suicide rate, but don't pretend the shootings number isn't abused by anti-gun groups to confuse the general public.

If we're gonna get pedantic about it, only the country of origin and the frequency is wrong. I think half of Japan uses either 100V or 110V at their sockets (100 would be just barely outside of the tolerance for something meant for 110V), but at 50 hZ in some parts, 60 in others? Nearly identical 2 prong plug that we use here, so that cord/plug would be proper.
