I think I've mentioned it before, but Gemberling calling Brett out on smoking during a 4/20 episode of improv4humans by saying "It won't affect your ability to have pressed record?" plays in my head every time engineering incompetence or laziness pops up on an Earwolf show.

Also, I really want to watch that Wild Horses episode but hearing them do their check-in feels too real for me to handle right now. I think that says a lot about how I'm choosing to handle quarantine.

I get it. But goddamn I always had to pay attention when recording. It boggles my mind when they leave the room. Especially when they're often the one person in the room getting paid.

I'm just jealous that's all.

Listen to old Wild Horses. Not to disparage anything current but the 'zoom' quality of media these days can be triggering. Both sonically and just how the performers react. Seek solace in a past performance. Anyway. That's my contribution to Oblique Strategies for today.

Eh, I thought the Ronin episode was fine even with zoom. I'm not particularly bothered by the latency and moments of silence, it mostly replaces moments where they would be talking over each other, and they still got some good Rannazzisi bits in. Maybe in a show like CBB it'd be more noticeable.

that was basically a "only 90's dweebs will understand this" meme writ large. Still better than the main feed episode, imo. That steamer was grating to listen to.

Anybody else enjoying Stay F. Homekins? I really enjoy Janie's inscrutable accent and how their energies mesh so well. Her gently dressing down Paul for yelling while she had earphones on cracked me up for some reason.

Most of them are about The Boys being resentful that they have to produce 30 minutes of content

That said, I've been listening to old ones recently without a podcast to binge through at the moment, and they're universally pretty great.
- Every single one of the Teaser Freezer eps are phenomenal.
- "The Irishman" is maybe, on its own, justification for subscribing to Stitcher Premium. Pinch the sky. Very respect.
- "Advice of Buttheads" is lot of fun; they read some "Am I The Assshole" Reddit posts that are absolutely insane/fake and pick them apart. ("This was, of course, normal.")
- "A Special Shout-Out" is very important to the overall ~*~lore~*~ of Hollywood Handbook.
- "Engineer Jordan's Vacation" is, unsurprisingly, a great Engineer Jordan episode. She's wonderful.
- "SUPER BOWL PARTY SNACKS" - PERFECT SNACKS? PERFECT PLAYLIST. FOOTBALL SHAPED CHICKEN LUNCH.

I understand them trying to expand beyond the LA comedy scene? But...almost all the Twitch "personalities" they've had have been absolutely miserable.

Doki Doki Literature Club is a good and effective game but I think if you've listened to the whole episode it's going to be hard to get the full experience. The game has content warnings so you'll know something is up, but not knowing specifically how and when the game takes a turn makes a big difference imo.

As someone who frequently bounces off of visual novels because I usually find them them to get pretty bloated, I enjoyed it for what it is. Definitely helps that it's an experience that can be finished over a single afternoon. Doesn't take long to get to the point and I appreciate that.

At any rate since it's free and fairly short, why not give it a shot.

I love how she even shocks the other Wild Horses with her out-of-nowhere honesty. When she went into her shame thing on I4H they were all just in awe. She was also the one who had the list of small-talk questions for her boyfriend, right?

Yes, that part about small talk questions was incredible. It's amazing how she's able to shock Besser and the rest of the horses and really be clueless as to why.
