Some of those L+R books are redundant. The big black Locas and Palomar books are duplicated by the smaller trades that follow them. That being said, I remember deciding not to get into reading the full run of trades back in 1998 because there were like 20 volumes then that all cost $20. I never bought those original trades for that reason. I was appalled they left out so many important, necessary issues! But Starman is really special to me. I jumped on about a year into the run and bought the back issues to catch up, but it was the one constant in my life through some rough years. 1994 to 2001 took me from 10th grade to my first awful year of grad school, and sometimes the next issue of Starman was the only thing I looked forward to all month. So getting those comics bound was meaningful, and so was bringing those volumes to Tony Harris at a con to get him to sign them. I got random trades of Starman. Fun thing, they aren't numbered so without a reading list I was picking up random trades without an order. But why didn't you just have a reading list? Well I was picking up trades at lots of random places (support local businesses) so when I would come across a trade I would buy it, take it home and see it covered issue 23-28 or whatever and realise that I didn't have the trade of whatever-22.

I have Starman omnibuses 1, 5 and 6, I think...it's annoying because the third one I think was printed in lower quantity than the others or something like that and it's super expensive, but I didn't know that when I found the 5th and 6th ones really cheap at a discount book store. I figured I'd find the others as I went, but now it's just frustrating to be missing the entire middle, basically.

Pak's been working at Marvel for a very long time, so he's probably got some clout, plus people love Wolverine and Pak is probably associated with The Hulk as much as David and (now) Ewing.

I started reading Kaijumax. In the first issue one monster refers to another as "my zilla", you, know, like a monster version of "my soft a n word". Is one good giant monster ongoing really that much to ask for? That's all I want, one good monthly series about giant monsters. But apparently that's an absurd thing for me to want.

Archie comics were pretty much all the comics I had access to as a kid, and I've read a pile of the various digests, as they were available at the grocery store. Now, nearly 30 years since I last picked one up, I just finished the first issue of Zdarsky and Henderson's Jughead. Wow, that was freaking awesome, and I love seeing the characters I recognise from so long ago in Henderson's style. (I've read and enjoyed a lot of USG)

I'll be sure to check that out. I've also been dippingmy toes into EC comics, starting with sci-fi stuff. It's interesting to see a lot of concepts that are still being used in sci-fii tv and movies, were in comics in the early 50's. I'm not sure if any of the stories I've read so far have a happy ending. A fear of nuclear war and ATOMZ! in general pervades many of the stories. The best part though, is the kickin' rad 1950's rocket ships!

Yes!! Love the EC rocket post, I devoured those as a (weird) kid. Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, and the very creatively named Weird Science Fantasy! I should revisit them, as I recall the art is all amazing but the writing is mostly pedestrian and there's a lot of words in a really standard panel layout. Still, the formula obviously worked for them and as always, reading sci-fi tells you so much more about the present period when it was written than about the future.

Any Madman/Mike Allred or Milk and Cheese fans here? I'm trying to do some decluttering while also looking for anything people might want that I could possibly sell, and I found this two-sided board game-inspired artwork. It is 20"x 13.5", and I laminated it in heavy plastic, somewhere between 15 and 20 years ago. Madman by Mike Allred on one side:  Milk and Cheese by Evan Dorkin on the other side:  I also found a Bugs Bunny animation cel in a cheap old frame, but I don't know if it's rare or valuable. I didn't have any of this stuff displayed.

Silk Road never actually sold hits, weapons, or CP. The website itself was 100% drugs. While some of the successors sell ghost guns, a drug-focused DNM selling hitman services or CP would be news to me, and the ones with guns on them tend to be the sketchier and less-used ones.
