There's a photo floating around purportedly of a video shoot in Amsterdam:

Seems like something easily faked to me, but a known insider on acdcfans.net says that things are indeed happening.

More smoke than fire, but given that nothing's been posted here in nearly 6 months, I'll take it.

We also missed the 40th anniversary of Bon’s death :saddowns:

But that’s cool about potential new music! Is Brian officially back?

Rewatched the Live at Donington concert again for the first time in probably ten years. The 2-disc album of this was the album that made me want to become a guitarist. Absolute loving masterpiece.

I'm seriously considering buying an ebony finish Gibson SG.

Stuff Upper Lip Live is the concert that made me buy a guitar. I must have watched that DVD a hundred times, especially Bad Boy Boogie, which is mesmerizing.

My favorite officially released concert is No Bull (love the lighting and guitar tones), but my favorite proshot show overall may be Toronto 2003, from which only 5 out of 12 songs have been officially released, but an uncut full-quality bootleg is easily obtained. The audio is totally raw, the camera cuts are on-the-fly, and all the breaks are left in. They stole the show in front of a 460,000 strong mass of humanity.

That's the Munich one, right? I haven't seen it in years but I have a DVD somewhere, it's pretty drat good. I think my favorite live show was Let There Be Rock The Movie, but it's pretty difficult to choose, they're all great. I'm mad I didn't go see them when I had a chance... like 15 years ago since they've been anywhere nearby I think. Hopefully they'll be back once this poo poo goes away, I really want to see them at least with Brian Johnson.

I recently came across this video by a musician talking about what made them so catchy and fun, there's some music theory but overall pretty understandable by an idiot like me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-ssiNeTgwc

It seems to me like only a limited subset of songs was used, like maybe only up to Back In Black, and not including Powerage. There's also a surprising lack of the word "rock", which they've used far more often than "balls".

Still, it sounds right. XD

I think the most impressive part is how well he imitated Brian Johnson’s voice. I had assumed it was an AC/DC cover band performing, but the guy said on reddit that he did everything.

That chorus is totally stuck in my head now.

e: The foreign chef and French maid are probably from Moneytalks, so the sample set went at least that far.

Today's the 40th anniversary of Back In Black.

Here's a great new article about the recording of the album (reportedly behind a paywall, but worked for me), with a picture I haven't seen before - recording the bell:

Also, Rolling Stone's 25 Essential AC/DC Songs. Whether you agree with the list or not, there's some great rarely seen pics in it. I've added a couple of them to the OP. :)

NEW Angus interview! The only public presence he's had between the end of the tour and now was Malcolm's funeral and the Vancouver photos.

https://www.guitarworld.com/features/angus-young-on-life-in-one-of-the-worlds-biggest-rock-bands-an-in-depth-interview-with-the-acdc-icon

He sounds very upbeat:

quote:

"...I’ve been up there playing and thinking, what are those feet doing? I’m watching them to see which way they want to go. That’s all I ever do, follow the feet and the guitar. The duckwalk comes naturally.

And it’s still the best feeling in the world?

"Yeah. When I put the uniform on, and the legs start shaking... I’m ready."

EDIT: Oh, FFS...turns out this is an interview from 1992! The page makes NO indication that it might be archival, and the content doesn't have any obvious clues (though in hindsight, the comment that Brian "sounds like somebody dropped a truck on his foot" sounds dated). Still, it's a good long one that I haven't seen before. The Angus drought continues...

Three official pictures from a video shoot were posted on acdc.com yesterday, then removed:

This video was presumably shot in Amsterdam this past February, based on prior rumours. The latest rumour is that an album will be released on November 27th.

Probably Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

Those songs are from 'DC's early, more jokey period. Here's a couple from their rawest album, Flick of the Switch:

A version of the website's teaser image has a list of credits on the right side. It's partly cut off and hard to make out, but there's a "Written by...Malcolm Young" and likely the names of producer Brendan O'Brien (*groan*) and mixer Mike Fraser.

There's also a very clear "7-12" number.

New single "Shot In The Dark" is OUT!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNhn1KOqq8g

Brian is mixed a bit too up front, drowning the guitars out at times, and he's got a weird effect on him here and there. It's also not quite as catchy as the last two big singles, Rock N Roll Train and Rock or Bust.

But what it has that they didn't is being LOUD. Great guitar tone on Angus, drums hit like a hammer, LEGIT solo! Still hearing some of that overly smooth Brendan O'Brien production, but thankfully less of it. Some of the 'DC edge comes through this time.

If the rest of the album sounds similar, it has a chance of being their best late-era record.

Also, confirmed that the album title is "Power Up", stylized "PWR/UP". Album cover is the single art, promo site's amplifier graphics on the actual CD.

Regular CD, vinyl, and illuminated deluxe pack that plays "Shot In The Dark" are now available for pre-order, along with a bunch of merch.

Inner sleeve of the vinyl says "This One Is For Mal".

12 tracks, and for the first time since Blow Up Your Video, no title track:

1. Realize
2. Rejection
3. Shot in the Dark
4. Through the Mists of Time
5. Kick You When You're Down
6. Witch's Spell
7. Demon Fire
8. Wild Reputation
9. No Man's Land
10. Systems Down
11. Money Shot
12. Code Red

Some of the song titles are a bit deeper than usual for AC/DC. "Kick You When You're Down" sounds downright depressing. "Kicked In The Teeth" at least had a macabre edge to it. Not a single one with "Rock"!
