Yeah, I'd probably give it a go but from that link posted above about troubleshooting rf interference the radio signal will still be a problem with a different unit.

I was actually looking up the wiring diagrams for this unit and it seems that all six wires are meant to be connected, so perhaps the installer was just a moron.

That;s how I guessed the power was supplied.
I also guessed that the transformer was tucked away somewhere accessible, so you couldn't run an extra earth wire there and use that.

Try the home automation thread, they might have ideas on how to resolve it.

I'd guess the unused terminals are for a keypad and internal door release that you aren't using.

I assume that the lack of plumbing upstairs is to reduce the weight on the floors and let them get away with some thin as gently caress beams.

My tellurium got in! A couple sources say that if you ingest tellurium, you will smell so bad that you will basically be forced to kill yourself to escape from the odor. I think that's probably exaggerated, so I grabbed a 10 gram ingot, supposedly 99.999% pure. The ingot itself doesn't smell like anything, but it got partially crushed in transit and after opening the bag I've got a headache...

I also got a 1 cm cube of tungsten from the same shop, and it's awesome. It's over 19 grams, and it's got super sharp edges. I want to get more element sample cubes over time, but even from Aliexpress they're not cheap - usually like $5-15 for the cheap elements and then thousands for some of the rare ones.

Tellurium itself doesn't stink. It's when ingested it gets converted into dimethyl telluride your body slowly sweats out. That's what stinks. If you look at the periodic table, tellurium is in the same group as sulfur, so it forms similar compounds.

Even inhaling small amounts of vapor gives you "garlic breath", while ingesting it leads to weeks of reeks.

I can say there's been no smell after inhaling a few micrograms. I might bump up to a bigger chunk, but I don't want this to end up like those TCC phenazepam trip reports where instead of buying a grand piano and crashing my car, I have to live in a smellproof bubble for the rest of my life.

That is a good price. I wish there were reviews because there are similar ones that just have pictures of the elements instead of samples, and the photos on that listing are pretty low-res.

I got a friend of mine one of those "Enlighten" brand knockoff Lego sets, perhaps the best set to buy

That's right, the assassination of Lego Hitler

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000108138809.html

I think the vendor I bought it from is no longer available, this one is a different listing for the same item. It's not a very big set, though. If you want a big build it's not a great choice.

Anyway, from what he said about the set, it of course wasn't as high-quality as proper Lego. He said he wouldn't want to mix up the knockoff bricks with real Lego, but it seemed okay enough otherwise. He's also kind of a purist for Lego, and good about creative builds, so I mostly got him the set just to get him a Lego Hitler.

I bought the Lepin Millennium Falcon for a friend.

It was missing a few small parts and the English on the stickers was all wrong, but other than that everything was fine. The pieces looked perfect and snapped together well. There was nothing wrong with the manual.

Yeah, I'm not sure about it, either; it just seems like it's the same product as this, which does have reviews, as well as better photos. The listing does speak of "samples", so it should actually have more than a photograph... but, this is AliExpress, so buyer beware ;)

OSU_Matthew posted:

Nope, I’ve been burned there. Same with ali express, most listings are aspirational and don’t actually post what’s in inventory, which is a problem with sets like that which haven’t been manufactured in awhile. They will sit on your order, possibly for months because they’re unable to get it themselves and you’ll have to fight for a refund and drag out the process with fake tracking numbers, or they’ll substitute it with a shittier brand like lele or bela. Not a big fan of either platform. Plus you’re paying separately for shipping there, which brings their prices over most other places. Lepin as a brand is dead, after the raid last year the remnants were rebranded as King/Queen. Gobricks also makes high quality bricks for Mould King & Sembo/SY among others.

This is where I bought mine in December, as well as most of my other retired bootlego bricks. They keep good track of their inventory, take PayPal, are responsive on email, and typically ship fast (~12 days to US, though YMMV as international flights are dead and shipping shot up 50% recently).

Hope that helps!
