I bought Prince and the New Power Generation’s Love Symbol on tape in early 1993. That’s the first time I remember buying an album.

No idea what my first tape was. Probably something Michael Jackson. I know I had Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em...fair chance it's in a shoebox somewhere still.

First 8 track I got was Led Zeppelin 1. We had an 8 track player in this old rear end van that had a radio that didn’t work but you could play 8 tracks without problem. I’m not that old, though. I’m more of the cassette tape generation. My first CD was probably jock jams or some poo poo. I had awful taste in music as a kid, minus my love of Johnny Cash and the like.

My first all-ages concert was a local ska band, MU330 with Mustard Plug opening. My first real concert was R.E.M. and it was an amazing concert. Some one hit wonder called Radiohead opened for them but I didn't really care.

one of my niche childhood favs has a vinyl on Discogs and fam I’m pumped I’ve only begun my audiophile journey. So what’s with cassettes? Some of the niche surf rock poo poo I’m into only do cassettes and CDs. I have a turntable, and wouldn’t mind adding a nice cassette player at some point. How’s the audio, or is it mostly nostalgia? I get you can get some good internal metal readers for the tapes these day’s etc. Pretty naive about it all tbh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ttvHI29MuI I mean this is just unreal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhwOhkpynBE Like just inject that into straight into my mother loving soul holy poo poo Nostalgia4Dogges fucked around with this message at 23:29 on May 21, 2020 |

god that game was so good, and for an old rear end game, still reigns supreme when it comes to online platforms/clans. They really pioneered a lot. Even this many years later: I haven't played a console game online that was that seamless and intuitive with it all

That's the thing, I'd listen to Chicago radio (what reached south of Kankakee) as a teenager until I moved South when I was 16 (1999). Probably just too much Kiss FM. I'm really starting to dig the Church of the Cosmic Skull lately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yiq4ocwQJs Also Sierra Ferrell, but she's western as gently caress. Mine was Sevendust. Next one was Metallica (1998), with opening acts Days of the New and Jerry Cantrell, which remains the best goddamn concert I've ever attended. Edit: Aerosmith was the worst, but I'm pretty confident the venue was largely to blame.
