I am impressed. Jamfrost posted:I was in the anime card business. Also the anime backgrounds and emotes (still worth $$$). Then the card economy tanked permanently. Yeah, I still dump my cards before the major seasonal sales, but holy crap returns are so low outside of any anime titles at this point. I used to snag a few hundred before each sale and now it's like... 40-50 if I'm lucky. And this is with me getting regular booster infusions from 3000+ titles that drop them.

OzFactor posted:Fell Seal is an incredibly faithful modern realization of a pretty outdated type of game, that being the FFT SRPG. If you are the type of person who put thousands of hours into FFT, it'll lovingly massage the itch that you may have forgotten about. But I agree with the previous comment: you might play it and think it's a bit of an outdated model, mainly in that the basic gameplay is just pretty slow. If it had a few more speed-up options, like turning off animations or something (or, as suggested, just a straight-up fast forward button), I'd give it a full recommendation, like I did earlier in this thread when I was still in my first 10 hours or so. As it stands, I'd only give it a strong rec for aforementioned FFT people. I played The Last Remnant to completion twice without putting battles on Turbo or skipping animations. In fact I almost never skip animations, I guess it doesn't usually bother me. That said, this could be a game where it does bother me, I don't know. I'll look up some gameplay videos (like this one) and see. GrandpaPants posted:If you're thinking about starting it now, you might want to wait 1-2 months for the expansion DLC to come out. They've recommended that it's one of those "fresh game" types of DLCs, rather than just adding a new story or whatnot. Thanks for the tip, I already wishlisted it, so I'll hold off for the moment.

Sometimes expansions are sold as DLC too which can further muddy the waters depending on how you want to look at things.

It is very weird to play that DLC that someone managed to bring to the PC. You just have to imagine that the mission has a bunch of new stuff going on while text is telling you what is happening.

Though I don't think it's supposed to be a remake or remaster, just an overhaul to the original port to "make things right". It's also supposed to include the DLC that never came out on the PC.

There should be a category for games you don't play for the gameplay (which can be bad), but for the experience. Games like Pathologic or the later Legacy of Kain games.

There were some comments in the past few pages, but I just discovered the GoG Galaxy integration thing and... this poo poo kinda rules? It picked up everything from all my platforms efforelessly, ports played time/cheevos over, I can install/uninstall from here, see all the available MS game pass games and just launch/manage everything from a single place. I tried PlayNite at some point but it kept duplicating some games (Origin for the most part) and kept detecting uninstalled games. It doesn't look half bad either. I think I just found my launcher manager.

I've only heard bad things about Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, but I had so much fun with AC7, and since Assault Horizon is in my library from some bundle or other......is it worth a go? I did install it once but gave up five minutes into the opening COD helicopter minigun level. I know it's got some weird cinematic dogfight mode thing, but youtube seems to suggest it also has at least some of the gameplay I loved in AC7......

I only just noticed Velocity Ultra is on Steam, and currently on sale for $1.39. Ultra and its sequel were two of my favorite games on the PSVita; I couldn't say how well the touchscreen controls would translate to a gamepad or mouse & keyboard, but if "puzzle game disguised as a high-speed shmup" sounds interesting definitely give it a look.

Between the three hours I've put into Avernum 1 today and the 90 minutes I've put into Queen's Wish today, I finally, finally understand why people keep buying Jeff Vogel's games. Both games are similar yet vastly different, and both are super rewarding to play and explore in different ways. I'm not fighting with the interface in either game, I'm not getting bogged down by anything, I'm just having fun and finding loot and upgrading my characters/forts. This is not to say that Avadon or Geneforge are bad, more to say that Avadon's style hasn't clicked for me (It might now! But who knows, it's still an extremely wordy game that didn't draw me in when I last played, years ago) and that Geneforge is ooooooold. I'm super looking forward to the remake! It's also nice that they're lightweight - in the sense that I think "ah I'll boot up, play ten-fifteen minutes and get something done" and that's what I do. Sometimes I play more because I'm having fun, sometimes I don't. That's really handy as I'm not up for longer, more involved things currently. (asscreed origins, umineko and troubleshooter are keeping me busy. and others)

You might want to consider jumping ahead to Geneforge 5, if you want to play a somewhat more modernized take on the concept. Although there are five games to the series and they share a certain overarching conflict plotline, the individual games are more or less self-contained. Geneforge 5 is one of the very best of the bunch and offers a massively huge world full of quest, characters and abilities to explore without locking you into a tiny tiny 90s interface the way Geneforge 1 does. If you want to play the others afterwards anyway, then so much the better, you won't really be spoiled on any of them even if you do.
