habeasdorkus posted:I am consistently impressed by Minna Sundberg's ability to churn out excellent art for a daily webcomic in Stand Still Stay Silent. I have no idea how she does it, though she does take breaks between chapters. Yeah it's ridiculous, as far as I can tell she is a goddamn robot just regularly churning out amazing pages every day?? And her breaks are like 2 weeks so it's not really enough to build up a giant backlog

She also made "pocket princesses", which was basically chibi disney princesses (I think related to how she got her job) and Thorn, a sisters in the 70s strip concept.

So not only is the comic wildly overwritten, which honestly I don’t mind stylistically, but any writing over reasonable amounts is directly taking away from Gabe being restrained? That explains a lot.

I got a whole different take on that now. What really has me scratching my head now is that those two people that happened upon that situation just seemed to instantly forget what they saw. Makes me wonder if everyone forgets about someone forever if things go south in the UF universe. E: just got back to the point where it explains that yeah, like i thought, everyone forgets you, totally forgot about that, been quite a while! So here's a public post from John Allison's Patreon.John Allison posted:A number of people have asked me, since Steeple started, with its complex sea monster mythology, if Desmond Fishman would appear in it. I think this was also an inadvertent way of asking if Steeple is part of the Scary Go Round Cinematic Universe. It wouldn't be good for Des to appear in Steeple. It would damage the comic very badly. But Steeple can appear in Des' comic, "Cattywampus", and so he has now moved to the Cornish town of Tredregyn. plus a bonus pic of Maggie and Des from Allison's Instagram

Unsounded is still going other then the occasional "scheduled" break. I still really enjoy it for the characters and word building, but jumping from so many different sets of characters, side stories, and settings back and forth it sure can take a while for anything to move forward much with any particular group. Some of it seems more like the multiple stories the author wants to write for themselves because she sure does love her characters, then conveying the story to be easily read and seen which is fine, but I totally get how that can get tiring for plenty of readers, myself sometimes included. I still like the unique universe, and the author having so much of it fleshed out in their head when she does the constant tumblr Q&A's that it keeps my interest, but I do wish we could fast forward a bit pretty often. I feel like that might be part of my issue with it, the fact that the author has it all figured out but really likes hinting and teasing at things with no context and no reason for anyone to have a clue about what's going on. It's like a jig saw puzzle with half the pieces missing, but I guess that's supposed to be "clever", both for the author and anyone trying to piece anything together, with the hint that one day the rest of the pieces will show up years from now. That might all sound like a tough criticism, but I mean it more as a complement in the "I care enough that I just want some answers" category then anything.
