Just mounted remote controlled blinds in our skylights in the hall. Perched atop an 11 step ladder, working above my head. Very happy it's done. A smarter man (or a construction company with more foresight) had foreseen this and ran 230V to them, as they also come in a hardwired version.

I just sold one of those motors with under 100k on it for 250 bucks a few weeks ago actually. I'd bought it for a Comanche build but there was no way it was going to fit, period. A few notes about them. There are zero aftermarket upgrade parts for them basically. No cams, no nothing. Zero viper engine parts fit them. You can get Chinesium headers that might or might not boost performance at all anyways. They're jtec ECU driven so there are a few people who can tune them but there's not really much left on the table as far as I know. They make 300hp and 450ftlb stock so plan on getting that much power forever. They have the same bellhousing pattern as the Cummins (with the Dodge specific flywheel housing) but a different torque converter due to revving much higher than the Cummins. You can fit them to the following transmissions. The stock Chrysler 47/48re/rh, the stock HD NV4500, and a later Cummins NV5600 I think. That's really about it. They are H U G E. They will not fit in most things because they are long, tall, and wide. And like 800lb. I decided I would like to have frame rails, a radiator, a firewall, an HVAC box, and the throttle pedal and driver's feet in my truck more than I wanted this engine in it, so I sold it.

I'm unreasonably upset about nature being a dick. Just 2 days ago, the male was right over top of my wife and I, sitting on a porch light talking. Sucks. Outright losing or leaving my wallet in my vehicle is a real phobia of mine. Routine before I go to bed every night is to make sure the vehicles locked (use the remote and listen for the horn) and eyes on my wallet.

That sucks about the wallet. People are dicks. Congrats on the new mini-me! Glad your family is doing good. Today we did yard work but ran out of line for the weedwhacker. Is there any value in being a good neighbor and having a polite conversation tomorrow? Or should I be like every other rear end in a top hat and leave a horrible passive aggressive note on their door or something? Oh god it started again. My neighbor's dog does the same thing, when he lets it out to poo poo or play or whatever, it just sits on the other side of the fence right outside our bedroom window (maybe 10 feet away) and barks non stop, waking us up at 5am or whenever it is when the neighbor gets up to do his lawn care business. The pisser is that we actually have a really good relationship with this neighbor, he recently got the dog and has no clue how to deal with it. We've said to him more than once, dude your dog is barking right outside our bedroom window, and he just keeps shrugging his shoulders saying I'm sorry.....But I don't want an apology, I want you to stop your dog from barking, figure it out. It sucks because I really like the guy, we talk all the time, he just doesn't know how to control his big dumb dog and it's frustrating.

LloydDobler posted:Jesus christ pets are awesome until you do something stupid like leave the house with the windows open and they bark for a god drat half an hour at 11 pm on a sunday night. gently caress my loving new neighbors right in the rear end. I am sick and tired of lovely pet owners, neighbors be damned. By all means, talk to them first. If they seem either like assholes or don't give a poo poo, check your town bylaws and call law enforcement. Typically they'll ask you to log times they bark and it probably helps your case if more than 1 person does so it probably wouldn't hurt to talk to your other neighbor and see if they are effected by it. I called bylaw on an old neighbor of mine 3 years ago at my old house because their kid literally had no exhaust on their tyte jdm and would fire it up at 5AM every morning to go to work. Rev the bag off it for 30 seconds and leave. I talked to them, they said the right things like "Oh, I didn't know.. I'll get a muffler!" and never did. gently caress that. They started getting visits. I spoke to the cop telling him I felt bad bothering them for something as mundane as this and he said "You never need to apologize for people interfering with the ability to enjoy peace and quiet at your home. Even if this was the middle of the day, this is excessive and not allowed. Seriously, don't apologize for this and report it anytime." Made me feel better. Flash forward to present day. My neighbor has 2 dogs, one massive (seriously, probably obese @ 200lb) malamute and a Shiba Inu. The Malamute is one of the best dogs I've ever seen. Super quiet, very, very rarely barks and when he does it's for a reason. They neglect him in the sense he doesn't have a kennel (goes under their patio for shelter) and they never play with him or take him for walks. Coincidentally just last week offered to take him for a walk and she said no, he's got arthritis pretty bad, and it's true. He's 12+ and probably on his last summer. But he's a total sweetheart. The Shiba used to be a yippy dog but has gotten much, much better as shes aged. Now, same neighbor is in process of a divorce so husband got thrown to the curb a few months back and her sister moved in. She brought a true rat dog... I think it's a Chihuahua and as soon as she puts it out it barks. Non-stop. Fortunately, they are typically pretty responsive and as soon as it barks for more than a few seconds they bring it back in. But recently, when they leave the house for a few hours, they put it in the backyard and the non stop express of barking begins. For hours. I go in my back yard or patio: Barks. Neighbor does the same: Barks. Someone walks down the alley: Barks. It's insane. When that first happened a few weeks ago I was going to talk to them that day to nip it in the bud, but just as I went over to talk after they returned I heard one of the kids having an utter meltdown and didn't want to impose. The following weekend it happened again and just as I was going to go over when they returned I saw the Ex dropped by and load up furniture. Not a good time. Yesterday, success. They left again from 1 to about 4 and it was non-stop barkathon. It was a beautiful day and the neighbors were playing in their back yard so it was incessant. Around 6 I was grilling on our patio and she went out onto hers and I took the opportunity. I said "Hey, when you leave for hours can you please not leave your dog outside? She goes bananas non-stop." Her reply: "Sure, I can try putting her in the garage." Awesome, that should be perfect. Thanks! Assuming the works, solved. I try to be good to my neighbors and have a good relationship. I have a snowblower and I'll blow their sidewalk and driveway after a big snowfall, use my weed trimmer around around the beds in their yard and move her garbage bins back up to her house if they are left out and it's windy. But, being nice isn't the same as a pushover. I'll follow my own advice if it continues. I don't want to see her get fined but sometimes it takes a visit from someone official to say "What you are doing is not only inconsiderate - it's actually illegal. Deal with it." At the very least in this case the owner should be able to close the window. tl;dr - Yeah, talk to them. Depending on the response you can decide how to escalate. slidebite fucked around with this message at 15:59 on May 25, 2020 |

Changing them used to involve renting a cherry picker on a weekend, but then one of the janitors fashioned a device out of a handful of broomsticks and half a tennis ball. Turns out that the shape and friction of the tennis ball was perfect for unscrewing the bulbs. Then he was fired when there was layoffs.
