They're looking for Bass because they consider him to be their brother, I guess maybe in this comic Dr. Light is supposed to have made him? Not exactly clear. They kind of seem to think of all the non robot master characters as being part of their family. It's not really clear why Kalinka and Nastenka have joined them either, but whatever. This coloring is all done with prismacolor markers. I remember it being popular back in the day and it sucked poo poo Those markers also run like $3 a pop

When you are poor it's a gently caress ton and given you likely want a set you are paying $100ish at minimum for a good selection and even skilled use comes out looking like those half assed watercolors. It's really one place where the digital advent provided a huge step up vs "traditional" media E: granted that's nothing compared to some oil paints out there but that's a whole other topic

It's a pretty common Japanese thing to have goofy themes for names. Like how Dragon Ball is 90% themed food based names. And I can see why, it makes coming up with names so much easier.

I forgot what point I was leading up to here. It’s 1 AM where I live and I’m out of Adderall and my doc sends all my scrips to me through snail-mail for some reason. Anyway Mega Man and X and Roll are robots and not children that got turned into robots. “Cyborgs”? I get the robot words mixed up a lot. Whatever. Also there is some confusion about whether Mega Man and X ever meet face to face, or if the former dies before the latter is “born”/created, but nobody cares about that right now. I. M. Honestly when the singularity happens it's not gonna be a big deal at all because you know that a fully sentient AI is going to spend the first two or three years of its existence alternating between generating massive amounts of robot porn and going completely unresponsive while still using a ton of power and the scientists should have enough time to figure things out and prevent it from enslaving us all.

Yeah, in the games, everyone is full robot except the Doctors and Kalinka. spoilers for vague megaman video game lore: X and Zero's creations are presumed to happen at the end of the Light/Wily story line but has not really happened in a(n official) video game, I don't think. The story almost has to involve everyone from the classic series dying off somehow though, since X and Zero are around later and no one else is. Maybe robots get old, who knows. In the comic here, everyone is a robot with the exception of Roll who's brain is somehow a special brain computer somehow made from a kidnapped human girl. This fact will actually be important later! Kinda! They seem to act like Mega Man, Roll, Proto Man, Bass, X, and Zero were all created by Dr. Light. Perhaps some of them were made by Light and Wily working together, unclear. Issue 4 shows that Proto Man was functional at the time Dr. Light stole Roll's brain, so he already knew how to make robots I guess. Kalinka is (probably) just a human and Nastenka is (probably) just another robot made by someone else. There's a bunch of dumb head-canon theory-crafting you could do on those two but who gives a poo poo really? Dr Light put Mega Man and Roll into tubes 30 years ago to perform some kind of upgrade on them, they wake up in issue 1. He's since died and Wily has taken over....Brazil? The World?
