I spent a year with New Leaf. I know it's a slow burn game you check in on every day. I still think this is too random and rare. It's the same kind of odd decision making that forces me to mash A for 5 minutes while watching tv to make fish bait because you can't craft in batches. They've improved things so much. You have an incredible amount of island customization now that is extending my playtime and enjoyment. But weird, obvious stuff like this still makes it in.

Yeah, it's not that 100%ing the game takes a long time, it's that you can play for three straight weeks without seeing a single new or novel thing if you roll the wrong visitors and poo poo p easily

Also I don't care what anybody says, including stuff like ignoring them; villagers choosing to leave is completely and totally random and has nothing to do with how you treat them, how long they've been there, or how long it's been since another villager left.

I was having that problem also, but I think you can work your way around it by using the grass pattern again. I avoided demoing my bridge anyway, sorry I don't have more specifics

Holy poo poo that totally worked. I tried every other path aside from the grass and it didn't so I have up. Too bad there's no way to cancel a demolition once I've put it in, but at least I'll know for next time. At least I have enough bells to cover it, so it's just going to cost me time.

I only played New Leaf before the big updates and stuff started getting added, split my town with a partner at the time. When we both had the day off together to do nothing all day, we'd time travel pretty judiciously because even with both of us doing our own routines, it wasn't long before we basically did everything we could that day. Looking back I'm having a hard time recalling what, if any, random visitors we had to look forward to back then?

In any case, it's a common enough complaint that in this version of the formula, the frequency of these fun villagers is too random and infrequent to be satisfying. This game leans way in on gameplay loops and building a treadmill of rewards, not unlike many games-as-service f2p casinos out there, but scarcity of resources is much more elective. Plus they aren't trying to addict us to be able to milk us for micropayments over time, but you're still basically getting two rolls a week of getting any specific desired visitor, and the House doesn't have anything to "win" here besides your joy. Seems like a weird place to have players invisibly gamble on.

Not to mention, Label visits basically feel like having a "dud" thrown into the gacha pool. Will future visitors just make your odds worse?

The RNG was pretty-dang bad in New Leaf as well, especially cuz unlike New Horizons where it seems like you're guaranteed SOMEONE at this point at a certain point in the Island's development, there were days when just nobody special could show up at all.

This isn't even getting into how bad visiting villagers could be in the early entries. People talking about fearing Redd only showing up once a month? Yeah Redd reliably showing up once a month was the ideal situation back in the Gamecube and DS days.

BIG VINCE COMIN FOR YOU
Why is the stamp rally so long of an event? It feels like they really missed the ball on having it provide some cool, varied rewards (furniture, fossils, random model of thing you’ve collected clothes, whatever). Why is this so long? It would have been perfectly suited for a short, weekend only or one day event.

theyre meant to be a nice surprise every now and again when you pop into the game every day or two for an hour or so thats it. thats the design choice.

Yeah, I agree. It would be fine if the prizes progressed to different things each time you did it, or if there was a big prize at the end for having completed the rally every day. I don’t need a whole bunch of the same plaques.

They don't even sell for that much. I thought if I was getting a bunch of duplicates then maybe they'd be good to generate some bells. But nope, it's 300 bells each. I've done the rally exactly twice and now just skip the dialog every day.
