Is there a cut of Aliens where Ripley finds Burke cocooned, or is that just a deleted scene? I watched it again just now and it wasn't in there, but the rest of the directors cut scenes still were. I will have to watch the theatrical cut some time, I can see why people say the added scenes aren't necessary, but the director's cut is what I'm used to, and when I unknowingly watched the theatrical cut 25 years ago I really missed the turret scenes.

Yeah seeing Hadley's Hope up and running and the family going to the Derelict are the worst parts of the DC. Though I do watch the DC over theatrical usually.

I understand what they were doing with Hadley's Hope in the DC though. It makes sense for them to want to show the colony before things go to poo poo, so you have a contrast, but it doesn't end up working. Its better to just leave it as them discovering this empty, haunted place.

I think knowing Ripley lost her daughter by outliving her makes the relationship with Newt better, but it also isn't necessary. Unless I'm wrong about that being cut.

There's nothing wrong with the word "degenerate", but I also don't think there's much evidence that Jenny is anything other than a mentally stable, well adapted adult. The stuffed animals and all that are just kayfabe, not much different or less ironic than Nerd Crew.
