An AWD Astro with an LSx is one of my recurring fever dreams. Preferably one of the fleet models with black plastic everywhere and dog dish hubcaps. AWD Astros are pretty thin on the ground this far south, though.

As someone who grew up on a cattle farm: it's totaled. Cows love that poo poo, and it's basically the only way to feed them potatoes (they'll choke on raw potatoes), but I'd rather fall in cow poo poo than potato slurry. Apple waste, on the other hand, smells pretty drat good. Similar concept (chop and ferment hard foods to make them edible) but far more pleasant.

NoWake posted:Now let's talk about GM's Quick-Connect fuel lines. They use an ingenious double O-ring design combined with a plastic snap retainer, which tightly and securely grips the metal fuel line so that nary a drop of gas or breath of vapor shall ever escape!(nevermind the GALLONS of fuel pissed all over the roadway since October, due to that metal line going uncoated and left to rot) ...and once it's corroded, you'll never get the line back out without ruining the plastic retainer & pulling the guts out of the connector. This is why I got rid of my last Saturn. The fuel line was dripping in two places and actually spraying in another, and I'd gone from ~28 mpg to ~10 mpg. It wasn't nearly as rusty either (top of the tank may have been, but you didn't have to drop the tank to replace the lines - it had nylon lines from the tank to the filter, then steel from there - I'd probably be singing a different tune if I ever had to do the fuel pump tho). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ExP-464b88 The car had plenty of other issues too. 2nd gear was almost unusable (synchro was shot), clutch return spring was broken, AC leaked worse than my rear end after a night of heavy drinking/unhealthy food, the AC drain line liked to clog occasionally, the sunroof liked to jam, it would miss for a bit on a cold start (plus some blue smoke), it was starting to throw P0420, the electric power steering would cut out anytime I hit a deep puddle, and the cluster would randomly stop working. I got $300 for it on trade at the dealer I got Brokeback from, which is more than junkyards were offering. When I went to pick up my plates, they told me when their mechanic put it on the lift, all he did was barely poke the line and it just... disappeared. They found one in a junkyard that already had an aftermarket line set (they're all 3 or 4 piece sets instead of 1 long piece, no dropping subframes that way), the owner told me she learned a lot of new ways to swear in multiple languages while he tackled that. Partly because he had to push it around the lot, since fuel line disappearing = no running engine.

Honestly it's fitting that b is for build would get involved in such a stupid idea. If you'd like to see that kind of build done by someone else, look up "gt500 superswap" on youtube, that guy did a much better job of turning a modern mustang into a 67. Sadly it isn't a build-series, it's just some beauty shots and a timelapse of the build E: vvv Yeah there's definitely something more to this story. That's ugly loving settlement to lose the car over it, especially when all they'd have to do to be "non infringing" is paint it a different color and call it Rigby. Don't ever piss off whatever lawyer that lady is using I guess.

Anyway, there needs to be something similar for "Eleanor".

Rhyno posted:B is for Build's car got seized because he did not have a license to use the Eleanor trademark AND his Youtube video series about the build was monetized. Until I see the legal documents, it's bullshit. B is Build is a loving idiot and while I have no doubt the trademark holder (This is a trademark dispute which meant B is for Bullshit had absolutly no leg to stand on, there simply wasn't any of copyright's defenses) has laid an epic legal smack down, seizing the car is simply not believable for what has been laid out in the public domain. There has to be much more to this. Youtube money isn't that good either these days so thats not an explainaion. Wilful violation after beign sent a few cease and desists as well as there was other ways he was trying to make money of an "Elanor" name might do it tho. Was he selling "Elanor" mech? Midjack posted:Counterfeit clothing and handbags intended for sale in street markets get seized all the time. That's fraud as well as trademark, so a different and larger issue.

I think never changing your oil throughout 25k miles of ownership is terrible car stuff, don't you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euHNdH-9zOM Honestly, I was expecting worse. Now watch this poor thing go another 25k without an oil change.

Some engines won't like it, but will deal with it. Some engines won't. From experience, when someone brings in a Mazda with a K-series V6 that hasn't had the oil changed in that long, it will have black paraffin wax in the top end, chunks of sludge with metal shavings in the bottom, and cams that have welded themselves to the heads.
