I bought a set of rollerblade chair wheels off Amazon recently, but I have like the one chair in the world that uses different size pegs so I can't use them. :sigh:

Part of me is like "at least you can return them, because Amazon" but we all know I'm never going to actually send this poo poo back. Upside, the set I got was only like $30 so no big loss. Maybe I can use them at work, if we ever reopen.

Amazon returns just got stupidly easy once they let you drop stuff off at ups stores without even boxing it. At least if you’re anywhere near a ups store.

as a person who never leaves my house i've done pretty well for myself.
Amazon likes to play games with returns like “you’ve got to go to a Kohls store to return this because Jeffy B. gets a penny for driving traffic to them. gently caress you.”

Eh, I live downtown so there's plenty of options on where to take it. I just don't feel like it.

I'm just gonna bring them to work whenever we open back up. Most of my job involves sitting at a desk, occasionally wheeling over to another desk, and sometimes just wheeling around because I'm bored and there's nobody there to tell me not to.

You wonder if at any point in the design, manufacturing or marketing phases, someone at the company went 'hang on, I've just thought of a problem.....'

And if at any point in the buying, waiting for delivery and usage of it, the buyer said 'I've made a huge mistake '

Hey anybody need a leather bed with a built in crib? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000307645255.html

Obviously that looks fantastic and everyone with a baby wants one. But what do you do when the baby is too big for the leather crib?

Oh, of course! How are you even supposed to get in and out of this bed? You can't sit on the side, so you either go bottom up or clamber over the baby.

Now if you don't have a baby at all you might prefer the model with the built in massage chair.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000891726691.html

Again, no idea how you get in and out of this thing. Maybe you don't get out at all, you just plug in your kettle and stay there forever.

Don't forget the mattress.

The first one looks amazing and I kinda want one, in the same way I also kinda want a bunkbed or a bed shaped like a pirate ship, despite the fact I'm over 30 now.

Find me a bed shaped like a pirate ship.

Either way who is spending that kind of cash gambling on AliExpress?

I'd still consider one if my fat goon rear end would fit in one. That carriage bed looks pretty sweet, but would probably break the first time an adult of any size tried climbing those steps.

Maybe instead I'll go for a canopy bed, so I can close the curtains to hide my shame from God, like people that put napkins over their face to eat ortolan. Only $11,650.00, and it has free shipping!

Lots of the furniture ads ask you to contact them before ordering to work out exact shipping and stuff. They also show more options and fabrics than it is possible to choose directly. Which makes me wonder if they aren't just using aliexpress for advertising and would really prefer you just order directly from the factory. Or maybe it's not really for us, it's for people who live closer.

You can get a racecar bed on Wayfair or Amazon for less than aliexpress.
https://www.wayfair.ca/baby-kids/pdp/zoomie-kids-bromborough-car-bed-with-bookcase-ahsu1457.html

https://www.wayfair.ca/baby-kids/pdp/zoomie-kids-mila-twin-over-twin-loft-bed-with-drawers-and-bookcase-zmie7824.html

Depending on where you live you might be able to get a handy guy to build you any of those beds locally. They mostly seem to be bunk beds with some extra paneling and paint, and not a technically challenging carpentry job. Any guy who can build a bunk bed and a shed can build a sturdy bunk bed that resembles a camper or a firetruck. Maybe even for less money.

Still, it's fun to window shop.

Watching a lot of woodworking videos, and also looking up expensive art furniture...you get to a price point where you could buy an entire wood shop and build everything yourself for way less, and it would look way better even with middling skills.

Still laughing at the possibility of tiny cannon mishaps, but you make a good point.

So I was going through the various stores that list the pins I have in my cart, and it seems like quite a few also have pins for nazi stuff. Items from those stores are no longer in my cart, but what the gently caress?!

Well, the most likely explanation is unfortunately there's a customer base for it.

The symbolism doesn't have near the stigma in Asia as it does in Western countries is also a likely explanation. I still remember being flabbergasted at the MST3K episode of the Invasion of the Neptune Men (Japanese sci-fi movie from the late 60s), that had a brief scene of a space ship crashing into what was in essence a Hitler building. A building with a giant multi-story portrait of Hitler.

That's less "symbolism" and more "used actual footage of Japan being bombed during WWII in lieu of special effects".

How often do the keywords or whatever for products match vaguely the product it's knocking off?

I was curious whether there were some specific pens, though those pens are/were manufactured in Japan so I expect there may not be molds or anything free to run between shifts or what have you.
