I listen to it sober more often than not these days. It doesn't take getting stoned to appreciate it (though it doesn't hurt). I think there's still stuff to discover. I think we'll find it in music from other countries. Most recent example would be all the great Zamrock stuff from the seventies. Who knows what hasn't made it out of other countries. Argentina had a really cool psychedelic community in the seventies. Maybe North Korea had a happening psychedelic scene we don't know about! Listening to Psych stuff sober is fine and normal. you dont need to be stoned to enjoy stoner/doom but it definitely makes it better IMO. most of the time when I listen to songs that I experienced while on psych drugs it triggers similar feelings/sensations so its kind of like a natural high.

When I stayed in Tokyo for 6 months, weed was almost impossible to get but shrooms and acid were pretty easy, but the only place anyone could get them was from musicians lol

Since this is the most fitting thread to say this: I was excited to see a new release from Mr. Bungle this morning and then I listened to it. It is utter garbage akin to Ministry's Filth Pig. It is so incredibly uninteresting and such a letdown from what the band used to be. Edit - I now see it's a cover of an old 1982 Exploited track, which sort of explains things. To be fair I've never heard their thrash tape. I started with the band shortly after their self titled album came out and it's still my favorite release. California is really good but nothing tops the self titled album for me. I'm just disappointed to see such a unique, creative band come back after 21 years to release this.

I'll keep posting until someone says to stop Rodion G.A. - In Linistea Noptil - very cool mid-70's instrumental tune from Romania. I saw them play in Valdosta, GA, and then in Atlanta. They were a lot of fun live. They were art students from the Savannah College of Art and Design and they had some cool sculptures they would bring on stage. It was only something that could have come from the mid-90s. They released two albums and then sadly disappeared. The first album has this song on it, along with another great track (with vocals) called Beer Planet. The only other album came out after this one and was a full length disc. It had a few really great tracks and like I said, it was a bummer to see their career end. Great for fans of Mr Bungle, Ween, and Primus. This is a monstrous track. I heard it one time very loud on a couple hits of acid and that's what sealed the deal for me. New Riders of the Purple Sage - Dirty Business. (1971) Featuring Jerry Garcia on steel pedal guitar, along with Mickey Hart and Commander Cody. Turtle Skulls new album 'Monoliths' is out today, for fee-free-friday on bandcamp. also on streaming. they describe themselves as 'flower doom' and I agree. bit shoe-gazey with some heavier parts thrown in, fuzzy guitars and writhing synths.
