Sounds like the dumb idiot didn't renew his license, got swabbed on the way home, came up positive, yet passed a saliva test back at the ranch which has been sent for further testing. The cops are "surprised" the roadside came up positive. The cops need to pay attention, because anyone who gets regularly tested knows the reliability of mouth swabs is between OK and non-working. Then again our last mouth kits had a failure rate (as in test failed no false positive) of close to 40%. Even piss tests can throw up a false positive. If it's one thing the mining game has taught me, it's a deep knowledge of drugs, drug testing and how people try to get around it. One incident at BHP was a guy who tested positive on a piss test. Got stood down and due to a testing backlog he waited four weeks with pay at home and counselling. In that time some nasty rumors went around about him, some of them spread by people dumb enough to put it in an email. Anyone upon his return said emails leaked out to him and he got a nice little payout, and several fuckwits ( a few I knew personally) got drummed out.
