I tell this story regularly.

I was a good student in a mediocre school in West Virginia. I rode the bus for about 45 minutes every morning until high school. Most of the other bus-takers were not... let's say "education enthusiasts". I'd spend my three quarters of an hour studying or working about a test or trying to not get punched. They'd basically treat the ride as if it were a pregame for a WVU football final. I asked my mom "How come the folks on the bus are always having a great time, and I'm always worried or studying?" She responded "When you come back to West Virginia in 20 years, you're going to be worried about your next grant funding proposal or how you're going to finance the next piece of equipment for your business or how to hire a new employee, and you'll meet one of those kids from the bus. They'll be happy and oblivious just like they are today, and you know what they say to you?"

"You want fries with that?"

And she was kind of right. On my last trip to WV, before she moved and I swore to never go back to my hometown, I met a kid that rode the bus with me. He was the assistant manager at the local Food Lion, still happy as hell, had a couple of kids, and a new Mustang. He was helping bag groceries because the store was slow, and we recognized over another. Had a nice chat, too. We all take different paths, and make our own happiness or misery to some extent.

I'm certainly the same unhappy, dissatisfied person as I've always been.

How is that car so hosed up? I find it hard to believe that a "shop" would do that work.

That night we performed the rite and opened the gate.
Halfway through, I went to fix us both a coke float.
By the time I got back, he'd gone insane.
Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere.

If it is a shop it is someone who popped up claiming to be a tuner of import racing cars and since we are a new business we can offer a discount in return for advertising blah blah blah or the guy did it himself and is just embarrassed and blaming a non existent shop.

I think they said in the first video that everything in the exhaust after the turbo was ok.

All the parts seem to be of pretty high quality, but they were apparently installed by some kind of meth golem.

The starter is a pain in the rear end to get to and you tend to end up breaking the expensive knock sensor (the green plug) by accident while threading the socket/extensions. A lot of people leave the top starter bolt out and the top bell housing bolts out as it saves hours when you have to pull the trans again.

The vtec solenoid is missing, so I'm curious if it has single lobe cams in there.

MomJeans420

Seems like you could just put a new OEM one while you're doing everything and hope it lasts a long time? I was going to say it doesn't seem like starters fail very often, but my 2007 Lexus had one fail last year. I'm just glad my LS400's starter never failed.

*edit*
Part of me was wondering if they intentionally made a car as lovely as possible but with good parts just for the youtube channel, but I don't think you'd cut the holes in the car for the wiring then, or some of the other more serious damage that occurred on that car. I can't imagine any situation where I'm working on a car in a shop and a plastic cow ends up inside a radiator hose.

Oh, I should have clarified, the top starter bolt has to come out to pull the transmission, which is why the mentioned bolts get left out. I don't mean in normal cases, I mean for people that know they will pull the trans occasionally. (FI cars since they shred the stock transmission, track cars because track car)

Yeah the exhaust seemed professionally installed and whoever hosed with the rest of the car at least left that alone.

Whoever is responsible for this clusterfuck I'm at least glad the owner didn't drive it further than on and off the trailer.

They said in the first one that the exhaust was bought as-is off of another car or something. So, while I believe whoever built that thing could have hosed even that up while mounting, they would have had to try even harder.

They should probably up-end it to see which lego bricks or other children's toys may fall out of it now that it off the car.

There's too much that honestly beggars belief - It has to be a car that wasn't built well to begin with (plenty of that mess I've seen with other cars) given a bunch of "turn this poo poo up to 11" to make it viral off camera.

Thats not being critical, it IS a highly entertaining video.

When I was little (about 4) I came across the family's '68 Buick with the hood up and the air cleaner opened. Dad must have been changing the air filter or something and walked away. It's a fuzzy memory but I remember hosing it all down real good, maybe even putting the hose up into the carb. I wasn't beaten to a pulp so I guess my dad never noticed, and/or it didn't hurt anything.

The neighbors had some fish I wasn't allowed to pet, so when they left the house one day I walked over to pet 'em. I grabbed my dad's keys from the hook before I left, because doors need keys, correct?

It ended up that their door wasn't locked anyway, or at least I'm guessing because I definitely remember petting those fish. And I definitely remember my dad finding those keys in the side yard while he was out mowing.
