OK in hindsight as an additional game to Hunt Showdown, I would be down with it. If nothing else to get more lore because I love this setting.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to validate the local files after the patch runs.

Mostly good changes, particularly with the new Serpent Trait and looting dead hunters to restore 1 second of dark sight boost. I'm not thrilled with the idea of hellfires instantly removing small outer health bars though, but we'll see how many folks end up using them this way.

New update is brutal. Fighting the butcher is not easy anymore as far as I can tell. You lose health bars just by getting hit. Same with poison from hives. You can't just kill and wait out the poison, it just drops a small health bar immediately.

The bird part was not mentioned - but yea, they document it actually being useful against crunchy (and spicy) and burny boys. I almost always run antidotes (small ones are enough now) and so should everyone. They trivialize the most annoying enemies, and absolutely neuter the poison traps, weapons and bee barrels.

--

What's pissing me RIGHT off is that something has changed about Assassin behavior/collision and now he escapes out of sticky bombs about 80% of the time - like you slap one to him, he turns into bugs... and nothing happens.
Before, he'd set off the bomb immediately and take usually 50-75%

Now? Nothing at all, just dealing with that piece of poo poo the 'real' way.

Played my first three real matches tonight, first game I died in less than five minutes cause I triggered that one bug swarm enemy(and I still have no idea what to do against those things), second game went fantastic and my team won(helped that even after we killed and banished the bounty we only ran into one other player the whole time), third match started off great cause we ended up literally spawned right next to the bounty, but by the time we had banished it literally the entirety of the rest of the server showed up and we all died

Either avoid them to be silent, or use a silenced weapon to hit them in their head that hangs off the side. If noise is no concern, rush them with sprinting and strike them in the head with knuckledusters or a knife.

Bee ladies are huge assholes. Best way to deal with them, listed in order of preference:
- Antidote shots (really, these are so good they should be mandatory, as they negate so much) - this won't stop them attacking you though so:
- Avoidance - Bee ladies have a pretty big aggro radius, especially when in their 'alert' state - you can tell when the cloud of bees starts buzzing around them/they scream. Noise will put them into alert state, which hugely increases their sight radius.
- Melee the Bee Lady - If they are in your way, sprint up and melee them. If you do this fast enough, they will barely touch you if at all.
- Flee - If you aren't exhausted, you can outrun the bees. You cannot effectively hide from them, though, unless there are other players the swarm can target.
- Melee the swarm - knife gets rid of it in about 3-4 light attacks.
- Shoot the bee lady - their head hangs behind the left shoulder, making it a little awkward to hit.

Single-boss maps where you kill/banish first tend to be absolute clusterfucks. Often times the best way to play that is to hide and let the other teams murder each other. If you are feeling saucy, you can even hide 'off site' - like in one of the adjacent buildings - rather than in the boss building.
However, this runs the risk of having your tokens stolen (which I absolutely thrive on doing to other teams).

It's funny, I took antidotes 100% of the time since probably 1.0 came out almost a year ago, but with the new poison mechanics, if you get hit by a swarm (which typically only happens to me when I'm rushing a hive with a knife) it lasts like 2 seconds, so now I just use that extra consumable slot for something else and maybe take Mithridadist if I'm feeling frisky.

Hives like to bug (ha) out and apply longer poison in my experience.
That and antidotes negate bombs, traps, doctors (supremely annoying if they catch you during a fight) and of course the spider - though lately the Assassin is the biggest chore since Stickies don't work on him since the latest patch.

I like rolling with: Sticky, Frag, ~random choice~, Antidote
Usually random choice is a second frag or something to burn things with.
I never got into the habit of using Vitality shots as a staple part of my hunter diet - first aid kits are more than enough, especially since dead hunters refill those.

Is the Sticky Bomb/Assassin thing an intentional change or a bug? Sticky Bombs taking out the majority of a boss's health always felt way too convenient since bosses exist to take up your time and give other players time to find you and encourage PVP.

I guess it's slightly better than when he Matrix-punched them and blew you up before?

Pretty sure it is a glitch.

Before, his 'movement' phase does damage, and used to set off the stickies immediately - now he just ghosts out from them and leaves them floating in the air.

Yes, stickies are a 'solution' to bosses - takes 2, or one plus some shooting/melee but I view it as a worthwhile investment. Usually you'll only have one, so double-boss is difficult, and they're nigh-useless vs hunters otherwise. The only other enemy stickies are good with are Meatheads, and that's a marginal case say if one is parked on a clue.
That and they tend to pass through bosses in general, at random, especially so the spider.

I just dislike the absolutely broken mechanic it has with Assassin now. Hell, make it official: he turns to bugs so it cant stick to him - right now though it's clearly a glitch.
If it was just a matter of 'it falls to the ground' when he transforms, I'd be in for it. Gives him weaknesses (fire, poison, heart-shots, cleaving melee) and lets you use stickies for the other two bosses.

Haha seriously? Grab an axe and just go to fuckin town on it. Use a stam shot if you're feeling frisky. 2 swings pushes him to enrage.. then the wide swing 'light' attack auto kills his clones and you can just keep beating on him while he tries to summon more, which you also kill with a single swipe. You can burn him down in 20-30sec with a stam shot or a partner backing you up.

In my experience it's been a toss up as to whether it's the spider or the assassin that is the most annoying, and sometimes largely depending on RNG and their AI behavior (I think the particular boss building also plays a role).

I've had times where the the Assassin often stays up on the ceiling and doing ranged attacks, but I've also had times where it only comes up close on ground level. I had a kill on it yesterday where it didn't even spawn any clones at all, so it was a pretty fast process.

Also a factor is how many people you want dedicated to boss killing vs. keeping an eye out for other teams. A sticky makes the whole process pretty fast while only requiring one person.

This. I pretty much always carry a 10min stam on my hunters. Assassin is easy enough without it, but you can cheese it dead even faster with the stam. It's also useful for PVP since you can chase down people running with the bounty. I often regularly hit the stam when entering into PVP combat, especially with shotguns. It makes a huge difference to not run out of sprint/melee energy.

It really blew me away when I started using it again. I pretty much stopped when they upped the run speed/distance a long time ago. Before that it was a requirement to carry a stamina shot. Now it really lets you cover a surprising amount of distance.
