gently caress lowtax! Wish he didn't have so much influence on SA as the founder. I'm hoping that the general function of the forums can just keep on without him, it's not like he contributes anything of value. I can't stand discord or twitter or any of that poo poo, the last social media thing I could handle was tumblr. Guess we'll just have to see how it shakes out.

It'd be cool if they could just buy lowtax out but he's very spiteful and in the past has turned down buyouts for way more money than people here could put up, even combined. I think he'll shut down the place before he sells it.

IIRC Jeffrey is the one with actual root access to the servers so even if lowtax took the domain offline Jeffrey could in theory just copy the whole drat forums and spool them back up under a new domain.

i use discord but i don't think this thread would be the same there, as one of the things i enjoy doing is going through the thread at my own pace and you can't really do that in a chatroom setting unless it's super slow/dead.

This happened on the week my laptop locks up for good. This place is the last forum I regularly post in and its been a mostly fun ride for several years. Really hope lowtax decides to just give up and step aside completley, but if not... well thanks for the chats and recs. Even some of the derails were fun and interesting.

You know I joke about this thread being trash because of the dumb arguments that spawn up, but honestly it's a thread with a surprising intersection of different subforum posters and it was neat seeing a big range of PoVs on stuff, even if it was sometimes earth-shatteringly stupid.Dapper_Swindler posted:same. the mods are trying to take/buy/etc from king poo poo now. there is a chance the site will survive but idk. i escaped to some discords but i will also go down with the ship just to watch it burn. If the site did change hands it'd probably take a while to do so, like there's financials and the LLC that'd need to change owners, and that'd probably take a while especially with the COVID-19 plague, so until the mods and admins can say that lowtax has fully cooperated and removed himself anything can happen, really.
