VOY S3 e16 Blood Fever Tom recognized that B'Elanna can't meaningfully consent in the situation and rejects her advances. Tuvok basically orders him to bone down. It's a medically necessary boning. Also, the doctor's porn wasn't strong enough to overcome Ponn Farr. This is fanfic. Someone replaced the script with fanfic and noone noticed/cared because it's voyager.

Just watched TNG "Homeward" and wow, yeah, that's one of the worst ever Prime Directive episodes. I think at the end you're supposed to more or less side with the guy who violated the PD, but the way Picard describes it still makes it seem awful. "Sworn duty to the Prime Directive" doesn't even make sense conceptually. It's a guideline for how to interact with aliens, not a sacred text. What's to be gained from not messing with their culture when the only alternative is they all die? Screw it, "y'all got abducted" is now part of your culture, deal with it. Now to wash that taste out of my mouth with "Sub Rosa"...

They can interbreed with humans, which implies they can interbreed with a ton of species, so my guess is that right after the end of the episode, Worf's brother puts out a subspace signal requesting that the Klingons or Cardassians, or non-Federation humans, or anyone else who doesn't give a poo poo about the prime directive, show up and "contribute genetic diversity" Actually, could he just use the replicator to replicate gallons and gallons of diverse semen, and the tools to artificially inseminate the women? That would solve the problem.

Currently watching Voyager for the first time and have watched Scorpion Pt. 1 through the first few episodes of season 4 this weekend. I'd heard great things about Jeri Ryan on Voyager but holy poo poo, I think this few-episode arc might be the best acting I've seen in Trek.

The Ultimate Computer (rewatch)- I hadn't seen this episode since the VHS days, but it's a good one. However it's yet again an episode where Kirk logics a computer to death. I don't believe it's ever followed up on, but the M-5 computer has some similarity to the computers in use during the TNG era. The remaster uses the starbase design from the Vanguard series of TOS novels, and you get to see a lot more of the Enterprise's sister ships during the war games scenes. I also just found out that the guy who plays Daystrom was also loving Blackula in the 70s.

It's weird because the episode is never explicitly referenced later on but, once you see it, you understand that this had to have been a pivotal point in Starfleet-synth relations. All the career obstacles Data experiences in TNG can be traced directly to when Starfleet tried giving command to a robot and it killed hundreds of people. They really should have brought it up in *Picard.*

More TOS- Bread and Circuses- Another one of the seemingly unending 'parallel Earths' that keep appearing on this show. In this case it's a society where the Roman Empire never fell and lasted until the equivalent of the 20th century. This episode moves extremely fast and it was over before I thought it was going to end. I think overall it's a good episode but that reveal at the end that the freed slaves were going to start Christianity was a bit unnecessary.

Of all the weird parallel earth episodes on TOS, I think that one’s the best. The gangster one is a novelty at first but gets really tiresome, and the Nazi one just isn’t that good.

Concept art from beyond when they were trying out different ideas for Yorktown. (Artist just liked the Galaxy, I guess) From later on when they had the idea they ended up with, I'm sad they didn't go with the forest-covered version.

It would 100% fit in a post-TNG era, feels like an evolution of the philosophy that led to the Galaxy class in the first place.

I think it looks a bit silly. Maybe a few design revisions down the line it could be neat—the concept of a city skyline existing in multiple directions is neat—but it feels really half-baked as presented. I don't think it's effectively considering space as a proper 3-dimensional place or capitalizing on that idea. And why are the starships docked so far away from the city centers?
