That's half of LogicalChimp's gimmick.

Also, there is a guy who tracks all the secret stuff that is not in the tracker and makes a new chart of the stuff (with information extracted from his rear end*) every week or so.

*To be fair it is as accurate as CIG's official info.

Ponzi scheme of the decade! Kidding aside, it seems like if they want to implement everything they've planned/promised it would be in development for several more years at least. I think they could have Squadron 42 out in a year or two, but I've heard that the graphics demands on your system are extremely high.

Why worry about kickstarter goals or past deadlines when you can let old age and once-in-a-century pandemics weed out the original generation of backers?

I've read these threads since before the Crytek lawsuit announcement , but my top 3 favorite SC moments have been:

-Seeing the dedicated SC streamers go from : "Best game ever and whoever disagrees is , like, flat-earther dumb" to "OH GOD I BET THE FARM ON THIS HELP"
-The phrase "worst kind of electricity"
-Bootcha's ship tetris.

EDIT: I almost forgot about loving SPACE LAND claims

I've just watched a gameplay video* of Renegade X, a remake of C&C Renegade using UE3. Looks pretty nice for a fan project and reminded me that comparing SC or ToW to a mod is an insult to modders. The level of amateurishness and incompetence from CIG is really a thing of its own and I tend to forget that Indies or Hobbyists release more stable and polished stuff these days. And if a mod project fails, well, I'm pretty sure most modders haven't scammed ~250 million dollars out of their users.

2015 - holy poo poo ROFL this is gonna fail
2015-2020 - corpse shambles on against all logic, propped up by unholy fluids injected by insane backers, all normal original backers long since left

Either that or we're witnessing the birth of Scientology 2.0 as the extremist compaction cycles go through years of iteration.

I've been lurking on and off, usually more off than on, since the early days of SA and Stile Project and I too have only just recently (well, much recent-lier than you) registered mostly so I could come poo poo on SC and also recommend the Evochron series in a thread in the SC subforum that's now gone.

The plan from day one was to get three disparate teams to produce 'modules' and then when they are all done glue them together which would produce an MMO. One of the teams ended up being a separate company. There was not anyone with a senior enough voice to tell them this was an terrible insane idea that would never work.

Chris fires people who tell him his plan is doomed. Or people that don't make the pixel bloom that way

quote:

Richard Gariott:
When you went to work with Chris Roberts, you did everything exactly the way he said to do it. Period. Or you were fired almost immediately. Eh. No second chances. To me...

Warren Spector:
To the pixel...

Richard Gariott:
Yeah, he was very explicit with what he wanted and you either did it that way or you were not part of his team...

Warren Spector:
I literally heard him say make that pixel bloom that way.

Richard Gariott:
And erm...

Warren Spector:
Bloom that way...

Richard Garriott:
Yeah. So it was a place where only certain individuals could survive it. I mean they had to be one very talented but on the other hand they also had to be very subserviant in their demeanor if you know what I mean.
