David Griffin doing an interview with local media right now. Apparently three players on the Pels tested positive on the first day of testing, but none since. They will not release the names of which players those were. They are, however, isolation and being tested daily and cannot return to the team until they pass two days of negative tests. The league has mandated testing to be done every other day.

Judging by the fact that Josh Hart and JJ Redick are going golfing today so aren't in isolation, I think it is safe to say they have not tested positive (yet).

That is interesting for sure. I think I thought for some reason that while I thought it was challenging, I figured you got an NBA analytics job via networking at conferences or being an assistant coach, that sort of thing.

there are literal thousands of applicants for these handful of jobs, nobody got the job without having an impressive portfolio of past work to show. that said, an increasing amount of this past work is now being done at universities (in my day it was almost exclusively a hobbyists activity outside of school). if you are an ex-player in a management position who didn't pass stats 101 but now has to hire a machine learning nerd, i can see why they would rely on "credentialism". i can't imagine networking being a driving force in getting hired, although i don't know the internal situations of most teams.

Denver has closed their training facility due to coronavirus.

"The Nuggets had two members of the team's 35-person Orlando traveling party -- which encompasses players, coaches and staff -- initially test positive before the weekend shutdown, sources said. There has been at least one more positive test since Saturday, sources said. Denver All-NBA center Nikola Jokic tested positive for the coronavirus in Serbia, where he was asymptomatic, sources told ESPN."

That makes a lot of sense. I think I heard Zach Lowe babble about the necessity of the Sloan conference and went on to conflate that with it being a part of how you got the job.

tyler hansbrough is my favourite nba player of all time. no one since his departure from the league has been able to capture the perpetual look of "i just snorted a pound of cocaine and now everything is ghosts". i crave more players who refuse to lock their arms when they run, instead wildly flailing their limbs as they spill about the court. his slackjaw stare was iconic, and his relentless mouthbreathing would be vital for any competent defensive team in the era of COVID-19 basketball

Bring Back Tyler Hansbrough
