Wondered if this kind of tie in would ever come. I guess with two seasons in the can, they can now more comfortably sketch in new backstory or events without breaking the ever precious “canon”.

Forgive me, but doesn't that link just describe a novelization of the show, some comics which, yes, could be about new events, but other than that some coloring books, junior novelizations, a Little Golden Book, and visual guides? I'm not seeing much that will be new EU content there, so I think this is being blown a bit out of proportion. Like I said, maybe the comics, though this link is super vague about that. But that's about it. At least in this link.

They putting out the first person flight sim in a couple months. It seems like whoever is guiding SW right now realizes that people care about the franchise but just not all the dumb skywalker poo poo. Hopefully the game and all this new EU stuff coming out sticks to it and doesn’t compromise. Even fallen order was good.

I assume it was harder to join the Rebellion than heading down to the local recruiter.

One common career path: Get quality training from an Imperial Academy, defect, use that training against the Empire. There are enough canonical defections its a wonder the Empire didn't simply start seeding more double agents.

So I watched the season and then I read this whole thread. It was very entertaining watching everyone guessing what was going to happen and reacting to all the surprises. I like this Star Wars. A lot. Can we knock off the trilogy discussions/dickwaving? (PT, ST, and OT)

I watched ILMVFX's vignette on their LED Cage technology and that is absolutely going to be a gamechanger for the way films and television go forward to allow actors to act against an actual image rather than a tennis ball on a stick.

The tech episode on The Volume was interesting but I was disappointed they didn't go more into the challenges they had to overcome. Like thisFC Guide posted:If part of a ship was real and part digital, adjusting the digital color would affect the light being thrown onto the real partial ship. If the colors did not match, it was sometimes easier to repaint the set, knowing how it would look bathed in the light of the digital version than to adjust the color of the digital set and thus also alter the lighting falling on the practical section. Or this quote:When filming outside, while the LED set provided an excellent skydome that could be repositioned using an iPad interactively, the LED screens act much like a large softbox, and not a point source of illumination. Even with their high 1800 nits, the actors would not gain a strong exterior lighting profile that would produce the typical exterior sharp shadows from parallel light (coming from the sun). As such the stage was made so that LED panels could be selectively lifted out and additional traditional spotlights could be added.

You kind of left out how it got 15 nominations. Most of them are Schmemmys but it deserves all of them given that they basically invented an entirely new way of filming. quote:AWARDS & NOMINATIONS
