I enjoyed the plinkett reasoning that Titanic was retroactively turned into a romance movie from a disaster thriller because Celine Dion and James Horner wrote up a hit song and the whole project got rearranged from James Cameron's usual filmmaking style to accomodate it.

Our school went to see Titanic when it came out (we saw one movie every year, that year it was Titanic because it was so huge) and all the girls thought it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen while almost all the boys loving haaaaated it I, a 13-year old boy at the time, thought it was ok but not really my thing I like it more these days, partially because Avatar really re-calibrated what "the worst James Cameron movie" actually means

The Lindsay video is really good and makes some great points, and also doesn't change the fact that I've sat through Titanic twice and find it boring as poo poo.

I believe someone asked a ways back for non-english youtubers, while I've been largely indifferent towards the majority of Vtubers, Inugami Korone has basically endless, infectious happiness and even some of the stuff that's untranslated and I can't understand I still find entertaining since she's just always having so much fun with everything. someone a bit ago asked her if she had ever played a DOOM game, which led to her looking it up(and commenting on how all the demons on the original doom box art are smiling and happy! which, lmfao, they actually do mostly look super psyched to be there): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAllof4RNEM&hd=1 this led to her playing through DOOM 64 as her first try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlqofsQores&hd=1 and in the last few days she's been streaming DOOM 2016 and it's charming as hell, I love how she prefaces almost every glory kill with HORAYA! or ORA ORA! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKmqh8G4McU&hd=1 and a bonus clip, I absolutely love it, where she was playing Dragon's Lair for the NES, one of the worst NES games ever made, and during it sang a bunch of random stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpsIBaSH_LE&hd=1

Hell, vehicles end up feeling sort of pointless after you get the superpowers in it, because leaping across the map Crackdown-style is both quicker and more fun. i think part of that feeling is its basicaly just takes place in the matrix instead weird hellworld saints row normally takes place it. nothing in the world is real and it basicaly makes all the big booms feel hollow. Titanic has always been something I regard as extremely competent which isn't the same as 'good' but certainly isn't the same as 'bad.' The leads are fine. Billy Zane is a sneering delight. Jack's Extremely Italian friend at the beginning really cracks me up. Nobody can shoot a claustrophobic action scene filled with water like Cameron. It has the annoying Hollywood thing of 'poor people are the ACTUAL happy ones.' The ship sinking is genuinely impressive because few can do spectacle like Cameron. It absolutely got too much crap because it was 'for gurls.' I just personally don't want to watch it without the RiffTrax if I can help it. And I certainly never need to hear Celine Dion try her vocal Barbara Streisand cosplay ever again.

I didn't hate it when it came out, but my immediate dislike of it when I was a kid had a lot to do with that (it was aimed at girls ewwwwwww). I probably should give it a rewatch one of these days, haven't seen it since it first came out.

I'm fond of Titanic. The dialogue isn't brilliant to say the least, but there are lots of good characters and excellent moments and if you fancy having a cry, it's there for you. I can't really hate anything Victor Garber is in.

Honestly, I feel like the Gandhi 2 scene works in context for the same reason the Always Sunny Lethal Weapon stuff works: the entire point is that it's a godawful idea on every possible level.

ehhhh, i mean the joke is that it’s a stupid idea for a movie, but the fact that ghandi is played by a white guy in brownface who never appears at any other point isn’t really a part of the joke. It doesn’t need to be justified as a woke meta-joke it’s a caveat to an otherwise fantastic movie that’s worth reflecting on. i still absolutely love the movie despite that tho
