HBox is hated as hell for Melee But a total hero in Ultimate Its comedy for melee since Puff's entire thing is literally fulfilling an april fools joke.

I don't think Hbox is all that hated these days. A few people gripe about a Puff player being #1 but I think most people would vastly prefer that to a wobbling Ice Climber, which would be a far greater existential crisis for melee as a spectator sport. Puff's matchups vs the other top tiers are fairly dynamic and fun, and while Puff dittos are miserable, thankfully there are no other Puffs within two leagues of the top.

Hes a great heel because he plays it up and kind of empowered by it, while at the same time do the thing that people hate about it (Camp with Puff). So long it doesnt go far like the dead crab.

According to his video he has admitted to - Cheating in a relationship - Flirting when it wasn't wanted Which is not good, but compared to all the other stuff taking down pro players it seems almost quaint.

Everything I know about Hbox comes from this youtube documentary on the guy. The most compelling part to me is where one of the melee pros, I think Leffen, argued that there would come a point where Melee would be destroyed because everyone would play Jigglypuff and it would become unwatchable, but in reality it's still just Hbox doing it against leagues of spacies and marths.

Peoples' desire to have fun playing the game they invested lots of time in has prevented hordes of Puffs from emerging. She has wonky risk/reward but most people want to do sick combos and move around fast instead of camping all day. If they wanted to camp there's more money in Ultimate anyway
