Reliable RT has it in English: https://www.rt.com/news/493887-italian-composer-ennio-morricone-dies/ Republica has it in Italian https://www.repubblica.it/spettacoli/musica/2020/07/06/news/musica_e_morto_ennio_morricone-261097180/ Stellar composer, having a flim genre named after you is better than an Oscar imo.

He was old as motherfucking poo poo so I knew this was coming soon but drat, my favorite composer of all time, insanely prolific and his scores elevate the films they touched to a beyond transcendental level. Cinema Paradiso wouldn't have been the marvel it was without him and Sergio Leone was as much defined by Morricone's soundtracks as his own talent. https://youtu.be/AZhYCERJp4s This poo poo never fails to stand my hair on end.

Rest in peace. He was so amazing. Man with the Harmonica was written in the 60s' and was way ahead of its time. On a file sharing service I once saw it mislabeled as by Radiohead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6BQKFs3-VM The Ecstasy of Gold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYI09PMNazw Edit: Swamp Booger Baby beat me to the punch by seconds with the exact same two songs. Whatever. That just proves they're awesome. Listen to them twice.

Once Upon a Time in the West would have completely fallen apart without his score covering up the fact that Charles Bronson could not play the harmonica. He took the two notes that Bronson could blow and turned it into one of the best movies ever made

RIP. I watched Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion last night. It's a good dark satire of life during the Years of Lead and Morricone put a playfully demented score to it that complements it perfectly.
