I'm going to serious post an answer to this even though it's GBS, because this whole thing is kinda important on a lot of levels. The thing is even with Lowtax leaving there's no real indication anything around here will actually change. Getting Lowtax out is a necessary first step but the moderation structure that allowed him to control the narrative around his abuse needs to change as well to keep this from happening again, because this will happen again and it has happened before (Mods Knew has been a catchphrase around here for a longass time, back to the days of aartrek). What's happened since the sale was announced? The largest thread discussing Lowtax's abuse was closed and the OP permabanned. JakeP was a lovely poster but the thing is he's always been a lovely poster so perma'ing him now for lovely posting doesn't really hold up. The thread was a gigantic spout of shitposting but it had been that for weeks and was actually getting more readable at that point. None of this was explained and none of the decision making was justified until this was specifically requested in the QCS thread requesting it be reopened (shockingly now closed). In the meantime you can go through the septic tank to see multiple attempts to revive the thread that immediately got closed and moved, some of which were probably justified but others (like this one and this one) that look absolutely reasonable. I don't think there's a grand mod conspiracy to keep this quiet, but the way this site is structured is that mods hold the key, you paid 10 bucks to post here at their pleasure. They can close threads they don't like, probate/ban posters they don't like or who try to call them out, and if you don't pay extra for PM's then there's no real way to contest those decisions or even ask for clarification. Sure you can go to QCS and see if they'll bother to respond but you're more likely to be drowned out by the brown nosing regulars over there. Anywhere there's authority without accountability there's no incentive to make decisions for the actual good of the community. This thread has been super interesting because it further highlights how Lowtax got away with his abuse and the extent to which he made this site and community complicit. Even mods aren't transparent to other mods, everyone has their own little area and are completely in the dark to the other areas. Lowtax could show up and create whatever narrative he wanted and most of them seem to have said "not my business", thrown out or rubberstamped some bans or ignored it entirely, and moved on. The problem is nothing has happened since this came out to indicate that anything about the structure that enabled this is going to change. Big decisions have been made with the same lack of justification and apparent capriciousness as ever. Good organizations hold people in authority accountable for their decisions and make them aware when they falter, this place is set up to outright avoid transparency or accountability and couch it behind a layer of irony so anyone asking questions is taking it too seriously. I honestly almost never posted outside Let's Play before this and am so boring I've never even been probated in 13 years, yet just by paying to be here and viewing the ads I financially contributed to the emotional, physical, and legal abuse of 4 women. If this site was organized in a way that decision making was transparent and communication to or between mods was open the whole picture would have been visible years ago, LadyAmbien may not have had to flee to a shelter and Logan Day may never have left Utah. It sucks, this was a really funny place to lurk but at this point I was only hanging around to see if this place was actually going to change and it looks like that's been answered.

If I am fortunate enough that Jeffrey buys the site, I already know it isn't going to be perfect. I suspect he will reinstate FYAD for example. But OH WELL it's still miles better than any alternative. The fact that this place had a couple of pedo mods is an embarrassment and horrid but SA does not tolerate that poo poo and we all do our best. Mods have to be protected from doxxing for example. I think it's not a perfect system, like far from it, but again it's miles better than other sites. I hope we get a chance to see what we could become. Thanks again for taking the time.
