It turns out he's not good at inking. (Or maybe had his grandkid do it?)

(He's also not good at jokes.)

There's two more posted with the same horrible inking:

Lotta love for Larson.

I heard an NPR story he is now using a tablet to draw, and described it as "the cockpit of a 747". So maybe a new learning curve on the artwork.

i went for the paperback version after reading reviews that said the hardcovers are heavy as hell and kinda unwieldy. my only complaint about the complete collection is how many panels they cram onto each page. My old rear end single volumes back in the 90s were much bigger, kinda miss that.

still, all of his stuff in one place was worth it

ABSOLUTE FUCKING GUDGEON

wtf is wrong with you guys, this is great. i was filled with glee at seeing larson's trademark style in a new medium - he's trying to learn digital painting, wow!

look at this piece. it has no lines but it still looks just like a larson drawing. but now you get to see how he imagines colour, and light - I love the bulbous shiny cars.

but most of all, I love the headlights from the 'taxidermist' taxi - the way it shines on and into the car in front of it, both obscuring the back window but illuminating the back seats; the way it moves past and emits crepuscular light into the crowd. it's so subtle, it's great

Agreed. The joke is lame but the presentation is great. Honestly, I think I would like it better without the joke spelled out? Like the guy is standing there obviously hailing a cab and your eye is then drawn to the taxidermist cab where your brain kind of makes the joke without the speech bubble.

you have to look too closely to see that theyre taxidermied. i think the problem is that its not a joke at all just a pun and runs into that pun glass ceiling
