Rewatching the first season, and I gotta say I feel Suburu is defined more by envy than by his pride. His inferiority complex and jealousy is what twists his relationship with Emilia, and taints his initial interactions with much of the cast.

This was back in episode 22. As far as I recall, this is about the only explicit context for Subaru and Pride thus far.

There's at least one other very heavy-handed hint, and while a sharp-eyed viewer could have caught this on their own I'm going to err on the side of caution since I didn't see it until it was pointed out to me. All the archbishops are named after stars / constellations.

I was already convinced either way but that makes it even more clear that Subaru is, if unwillingly so, Pride. I read a bit of Arc 4's start in advance and I must say in order to keep up the pacing they kind of undersold Regulus. Lye as well slightly. Edit These are not true spoilers just dialog from the web novel that shows the Sin Arch bishops talking a bit more. Namely the scene where he cut off Cruschs arm.quote:[Man: ……attacking someone while they’re talking, just where are your manners?] MonsterEnvy fucked around with this message at 17:04 on Jul 13, 2020 |

Why are you posting huge page long spoiler blocks? Can we stop with the spoilers in the thread? Otherwise I feel like I should just stop reading it.

While I agree with the general sentiment, in this case the "spoilers" are just dialogue from I'm assuming the Web Novel for the scene we just got in the anime to compare how the the new archbishops are potrayed.

I think they were just posting parts of the Light novel/Web novel that were covered but different from the anime, but if that's not the case could someone who is following along let us know? Because yeah we don't need huge blocks of spoilers for future events or hints at characters and their personalities.

A: I have no way of knowing whether what is under the spoilers is truly spoilery or not without removing the block. I'm not going to do that one episode into this new season. B: Who are spoiler discussions for in this thread? Are we just going to have page long discussions that are blacked out spoiler text? if you want to have a discussion about things that haven't come up yet in the anime can you just make a light novel thread and discuss in there?

Yeah, if it's just stuff that's already happened, you can sorta discuss it like Julias previously recommended. But also, you don't have to quote huge chunks of text. Just like "Oh, Regulus said this and elaborated on this a bit more on the OG web novel/light novel". I mean hell, I've been looking forward to this adaptation almost as much as y'all, and last thing I want to worry about are spoilers.

Danke. Like this is the one mainstream show I was looking forward to seeing, not reading and I'm glad that, even through almost 4 years of wait, I never got spoiled beyond the "Who's Rem?" thing. I think if session 3 takes a while to be announced, I'm just going to go and read it from there on, but yeah, I'd rather see Arc 4 animated before making the jump to the Light Novels or even the Web Novels.

I didn't think we'd get to the witch so fast. Nice Opening though. Not a spoiler in any way, but even though I have read the WN version of the arc, as I'm sure a lot of people did, from what I understand the Light Novels (which the anime is based on) made some pretty large changes to this arc in particular, to cut down the sheer length of it if nothing else. I never got around to reading the LN version, so a lot of things are going to be surprising to me as well. The whole thing with the stone wasn't in the WN version, for example, though I remember it being mentioned when the LNs first got around to this arc.
