In 1515, Albrecht Dürer created his woodcut of a hippopotamus (or in Middle Low German, a grimasse) based only on a written description of the animal, without ever seeing the animal himself. in 1970, over 400 years later, Ray Kroc was highest bidder for the woodcutting at an auction, and the rest is history.

Today was Kitteh's yearly vet checkup. As I suspected she has kitty arthritis. Still better than my friends: One of them lost a cat to rapid-onset cancer, the other is probably losing her cat to kidney failure. Which I'm worried about because I think she loves that cat more than she loves her fiancee.

Me - "I'm gonna go downstairs and watch Lifeforce." Wife - "Lifeforce? Is this another one of your movies where you swear up and down it's a good movie but I come downstairs at the exact moment the lead actress gets naked?" Me - "..." Update - the movie doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

Planescape if better than both if you hate combat and don't mind if it's terrible. Because Torment takes the RtWP D&D system, guts it, and turns it into something nigh-unusable. If you can deal with that; It's a trip unlike anything else in gaming.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgcV8PrCLcs quarantine/riot/vacation movie list part 8 or 7 Sucker Punch – one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life. i think i could write a book on everything wrong with this movie. this movie is shot like a two hour long music video. Baby Doll gets sent to a mental institution, and then reinterprets it in her mind as the Magical Whorehouse Dimension. sexy dances performed in this fake dimension are reinterpreted as video game fights that we see in a deeper dimension, the Video Game Dance Fight Dimension. one dance is a Dark Souls boss rush, one dance is Wolfenstein, one dance is a cheap Unity asset game that takes place in a small train. this film about women in an insane asylum being mentally, physically, and sexually abused has been hailed by many men as a very empowering film for women. Police Story – with the current situation in the world, i thought i would watch a movie made during a time when we still thought fondly of the police. Jackie Chan is a police officer who goes on a personal vendetta against someone who he believes has slighted him. his superiors cover for him even though they suspect Jackie of murdering an innocent person. back then, being a cop was different. Red Sun – what a disappointment. Toshiro Mifune, Alain Delon, and Charles Bronson come together to make something much lesser than the sum of its parts. Toshiro Mifune was saying all of his English lines phonetically, and so was Charles Bronson. the score is abysmal and kills the mood whenever it appears. everything looks ugly. the script is bad. Charles Bronson is awful in this. this was directed by Terence Young, who directed Inchon, so that might explain it. this is like a chef taking amazing ingredients and making diarrhea soup. Phase IV – boring sci fi movie about ants. the ants aren't even big, just regular ants. the human actors in this suck and have no chemistry. the ants have way more personality. really boring but people love this movie for all the cool macroscopic shots of ants doing their thing. i didn't like this film because they killed a lot of ants in real life, which i do not condone. also because it was incredibly boring and the actors were terrible. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - i was about 10 years old when this movie came out, and i remember being sort of terrified of Hugo Weaving done up in drag in the tv commercials. well, he was just as scary as i remembered him. perhaps even scarier. despite Mr. Weaving's horrifying visage, this movie was cute. being a drag queen seems fun. A Boy and His Dog – while watching this movie I began to realize how many video games ripped this film off. Don Johnson plays a youthful scavenger in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, and he has a pet dog that talks to him telepathically. the dog has advanced echolocation capabilities that allow him to locate women for Don Johnson to rape. check it out, i guess... Mulholland Drive - i didn't get this movie. i had to look up an explanation after i watched it. i didn't have to look up an explanation after i watched Predator, you know. Shoplifters – this is a cute movie about a family of Japanese thieves. this movie is better than Parasite. Parasite – this is a movie about a family of Korean con artists. this movie isn't as good as Shoplifters. San Andreas – The Rock is a helicopter pilot and has to protect his daughter and ex-wife as California sinks into the sea. i am ashamed to admit i enjoyed this movie. The Day of the Dolphin – George C. Scott accidentally trains a talking dolphin to assassinate the President of the United States of America. sadly, for a movie with such a tremendous premise, it is also tremendously boring. Mr. Scott spends a portion of all his scenes yelling for his wife Maggie, who is invariably in another room. Godzilla – this movie is so cool. Godzilla is really the manifestation of the guilt and fear felt by the Japanese people after World War 2. the movie isn't really about Godzilla's rampage, and has a poignant message about how humanity must stop focusing on building weapons of war, and instead must come together and build something greater than what we had before, for future generations to enjoy and expand upon. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla – in this one a robot Godzilla is sent to Earth by aliens from outer space and the robot Godzilla and regular Godzilla beat the poo poo out of each other and it's fuckin badass. Godzilla kicks Mechagodzilla's rear end so hard the first time they meet, that the aliens have to kidnap a scientist from Earth to fix Mechagodzilla. this is because the technologically advanced aliens lacked the knowledge and skill required to repair the robot that they themselves created. Dark Star – John Carpenter's cheap student film about space garbage men that explode unstable planets. four hairy men sit in a tiny spaceship and complain about everything and lose their minds. there is a sentient bomb and a beach ball alien. this is my favorite John Carpenter film so far. Affair in Trinidad – Rita Hayworth looks like she's got some sort of wasting illness in this one. everyone looks old and tired and sickly. allegedly takes place in Trinidad but everything is an interior shot. Sanshiro Sugata – Kurosawa's first movie. it's about some Judo guy. this is one of the not-good Kurosawa films. there are some very nice looking shots, because it's still Kurosawa, but it's just not very interesting. it's missing two scenes, but i don't think they would have improved the movie much. watch it for the novelty value, i guess. I Was a Teenage Werewolf – a young man with mental problems goes to a psychiatrist who surreptitiously injects him with a drug that turns him into a werewolf. this is why i had such a hard time finding a good therapist. Plan 9 From Outer Space – this movie is fun, but it gets kinda boring. the big problem with all these famous “bad” movies is that they're all dull. they're funny for the first 15 or 20 minutes but then you have to watch the rest of the movie. its about how the atomic bomb is bad and how humans will make an even worse weapon, much like Godzilla. Shutter Island – Leo DiCaprio has to go to Crazy Man Island Prison to uncover a mystery. he encounters an inmate who essentially gives the same speech about hydrogen bombs as the alien from Plan 9 From Outer Space. I thought this movie was fine but apparently people have problems with it. it's fine, whatever. Casino Royale – the one with Peter Sellers. this movie is a real mess, but i kind of liked it. Peter Sellers was so scared of Orson Welles that he quit the film before it was finished. every woman in this film is beautiful, and every man is ugly. Peter Sellers probably would have fit right in on the forums. not because he was funny, but because he was always depressed, and his strange behavior alienated him from other people, and he was intimidated by large, confident men. this film is a cursed object, it was forced into existence against the will of the universe. if you watch it, you will be cursed to have Burt Bacharach's incredible score stuck in your head until you die. i'm sorry for the delay, i thought the forums were going to disappear and the mood was real down and i've been waiting for another manic episode so i could write.

I am 20 hours into a playthrough and I am still so loving bad at combat. I can't overcome it and I can't think about anything else.
