 This is Major Archibald Willingham DeGraffenreid Clarendon Butt. He was a stellar logistics officer during the Spanish-American War serving in the Phillipines and Cuba; while serving in the Phillipines he earned the notice of Governor William Howard Taft. When Taft was Secretary of War, he recommended then-Captain Butt to President Theodore Roosevelt, and Butt served for nearly a year as the Roosevelt's military aide and social secretary. Butt was one of the few people who could keep up with TR's exhausting physical schedule, and his head for logistics made him a superb organizer of White House receptions. When Roosevelt left office, Taft asked Butt to stay on as his military aide; Butt agreed, and also continued to act as social secretary for Taft as well as the chief negotiator for the White House on budgetary issues. In the spring of 1912, Butt - newly promoted to be a Major Butt of the U.S. Army - found himself stuck between a rock and a hard place: he was a close friend to both Roosevelt and Taft, and as the President and former President began feuding and as that feud escalated into a political rivalry, Butt found himself pounded by both sides and pressured to declare for one over the other. Fiercely loyal to both, Butt fell into depression and exhaustion. Friends of Major Butt appealed to President Taft, and Taft agreed to give Major Butt a leave of absence and ordered him to go on vacation, preferably to Europe, where he could deliver diplomatic letters on behalf of Taft. Major Butt agreed, and decided to make his way to Europe in the best of styles affording a Butt of his station: he bought a first-class ticket for the Titanic. It is hard to find a verifiable statement of Major Butt's actions during the sinking of the Titanic. The night was chaotic, and many accounts given later were filled with mistakes, exaggerations, and outright fabrications, as newspapers were as wont to tell lies praising a personal friend of the President's and curry favor as they were to try and determine truth. But most accounts given state that Butt worked to help organize loading and lowering of lifeboats, as befitting a man of his logistical skill, and then returned to the smoking room to play cards until the ship finished sinking. Major Butt was accompanied upon his trip with his friend and housemate Francis Millet. Both were lifelong bachelors, and it is speculated that they were lovers, though this being the Edwardian era, there is little that can be offered in the way of proof. In 1913, the Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain was dedicated to them in President's Park in Washington, D.C.

Seems strange that Ms. Blubberbutt should also have an extremely tight butt, as I generally associate blubber with the opposite of tightness, though perhaps contradiction is the wellspring of all artistic expression.
