That's meant to account for the people you would otherwise have to hotglue a mask to. People with dementia, autism and other psychological issues.

Not "Churchill never wore a mask, even when he was gassing the Kurds, so why should I?"

Everything is about shifting blame not actually helping.

Events being allowed from 1st of August is so the government can hold their hands up to the dying events industry and say "wow well you're allowed to be open so whats the deal?"

Unenforced mask use on public transport is the same. Wow well we tried nothing and we're all out of ideas, guess it isn't our fault.

I was out of the loop and didn't know 1st of August will be the true "GeorgeWBUshMissionAccomplished.Jpeg" date. Nightclubs are exempted but live music venues are opening. At this point, I imagine majority of the small venues relied on people packed inside like sardines are either already tanked or will tank regardless of opening. God knows what will happen if cases start to spike.

Oh, looks like casinos and gambling halls are opening, too. I was so used to not seeing sad, devastated looking low income people leaving Ladbrokes and clearly that's what we exactly need in these troubling times. :ironicat:

I can go for a cheeky Nando's rn, ngl. My voucher for two whole meals and 4 sides are not eligible for takeaway so I had to eat the 4 pound posh pizza from Sainsbury's with homemade tzatziki.

I appreciate the "pay at the till, get your meal served to your table" system more than the actual meal tbh.

Given that Live Nation has recently sold shares to the Saudi Royal Family to get some money in I don't think anyone in Live has the cash spare to take on more venues that they can't open up for another X months.

Boris has said venues can open, venues have said they can't survive with under 50% capacity and the extra overheads. I'm guessing the grant announced last week wasn't enough, or was just too little too late.

Not enough for everybody, and they're explicitly interested in saving venues of "national cultural importance". I guess the bigger concert venues and theatres will consume a lot of it, most of them are barely solvent at the best of times.

Everyone else will be getting left to be hosed by the business rates and rent.

our local pub used to book razorlight a ton when they were starting out, and when it was in trouble a while back they agreed to come play a few songs for charity, the charity being 'keep the pub afloat'

mind that was only because someone contacted the band directly, if it had gone through their agent / publisher i doubt it would have happened

so our contract for the place we rent expires tomorrow and the estate agent has ignored our email. apparently it turns in to a rolling monthly contract when that happens which is quite good because we want to move out soon and not sign another 12 month contract.

i don't think they would! apart from scuffing up the walls with bikes i think we're quite inoffensive. the place is damp as gently caress though and isn't double glazed so we can't be arsed to deal with the mold in the winter.

Also shut up about masks. There's nothing to debate or discuss. Wear a mask if you're able & don't judge other people for not wearing one b/c you don't know their circumstances. Just get on with it.

Simple as, all done. Shut up. You're getting boring.

Everyone in the events industry is on the brink, up to and including Live Nation. The grant that made the news recently was basically so tourist attractions in the west end could pay their rents. Landlord benefit. None of it actually hit the supply chain and creative sector that makes shows work.

Venues can re-open with social distancing. This means 2m gapson stage as well as off. One 300 cap venue posted an infographic showing 27 people in the crowd area and a maximum of four people on stage.

Its bullshit meant to deflect all responsibility. The production services association is warning of most of the sector going bankrupt.
