It sucks that the Cthulhu society is so lame compared to the others. I feel like every time Firaxis introduces a way to take cities with Loyalty they make it feel weak and unappealing.

I kind of like the idea of trying to take cities by suiciding my cultists into them. I might have to pull the trigger on this Frontier Pass soon, these secret societies sound like a ton of fun and since my friend and I are starting up a military game, I'd love to augment that with Vampires.

At first I thought the vampire unit wasn't getting upgrades from adjacent kills, then I realized it only shows up on the comparison screen before a fight. A constantly upgrading unit is a neat idea but those Vampire Castles that suck the tile yields out of an area and give it to your capital sound economically great as well.

I'm having a bug where sometimes I can't click the big "next" button thing on the bottom right, and the hotkey doesn't seem to work either... which makes the game almost unplayable lol. I guess it could also be a problem with the community UI mod, but I don't know, it's not any function specific to that mod

Can anyone confirm or deny that this drop actually got released for the Mac as well? They first one didn’t and they failed to mention that at all, and I can’t find anything that says it’s out for the Mac as well. Trying to avoid disappointment again, even though the console versions appear to be completely unplayable so obviously Aspyr is putting in zero effort here.

I've been playing as Ethiopia with the Cthulu society and holy moly, my yield output has been insane I took on Earth Goddess as my pantheon and of course Reliquaries. I just unlocked cultists and started slamming them against a few neighboring cities. So far I've managed to completely loyalty flip three cities and I've filled every monument with a triple yield relic. That, on top of the science and bonus you get from faith! I only have one theater square and two campuses, and I'm beating the pants off of everyone with my science and culture output. Even Korea is jealous of me, which never happens.

Okay, in his defense, this all *is* tied to appeal and if you don't know poo poo about manipulating appeal in tiles you can screw yourself over (chopping a forest for example, or pillaged tiles or industrial districts in the wrong spot). Not everyone is as good at destroying a game's balance as us grognards. I think Rough Rider teddy is totally OP in the other direction: double envoys to city-states you have a trade route to can be leveraged into ruling everyone everywhere. Which gets crazy.

The Cthulhu faction feels sorta weak, but I'm also totally eclipsing everyone around me in faith/science/culture by a wide margin by playing as Ethiopia and getting a super hilly/mountainous start. It'd probably still be a big bonus even without having it doubled and +7 faith churches everywhere. It's also annoying that the cultist isn't unlocked until the world reaches the industrial era; that's super late. Also, vampires are a pain in the rear end. Tomyris conquered half the city states on my continent and I'm liberating them one-by-one, but it's a slow process because her vampires are all gorged on city state blood and will kill basically any wounded unit I have with one attack. And now the Maya have just started attacking a newly liberated city state, and they also have vampires, which is just swell.

I think even if those bonuses were only for unimproved tiles it would still be crazy good just for the early game boost (and it would be more consistent with the parks concept.) But that's insanely over the top, you just get to keep all those free bonuses forever as long as you don't tank the appeal... and I'm also just noticing that it even applies to your city center lmao

man the AI is so braindead in this, I finally won on Deity and in my game Cyrus was on 16 diplomatic victory points for awhile and when I decided to randomly build statue of liberty in a city because it wasn't doing anything else I was like gives 4...wait..4 diplomatic victory points??? so I sent spies over to Cyrus worried I was gonna have to declare war and stop him but he was not even attempting to build the thing that would instantly win him the game

Am I crazy to think that this update has been a giant dump on Georgia between Ethiopia being a better defensive faith-based hill-biased civ and Rough Rider Teddy doing the double envoy thing way better than "get a religion you have no advantage in getting and spread it in both your empire and your city states before sending your envoys?"

Yeah no they really said gently caress Georgia with this one. Hope they either add another Tamar personality like teddy/Catherine, or just patch in some kind of advantage. I can see her being fun but I have no idea how to get there when none of her poo poo has anything to do with each other, or with her bonuses. Also I want them to add Armenia or Lakota (with tribal permission). What are some of everyone's dream civs that haven't been included yet? Or dream leaders for extant civ 6 civs? I think Rome should get one of the late stage despots as an alternate. Plus maybe like an Inuit or Etruscan or an Australian Aborigine group or Haiti or Cuba or something. Iceland? Albania? Mexico? Yugoslavia? Just spitballing. No idea how any of these would work or even if they would be appropriate in some cases.

Or copy the Phoenician ability to move the capital, but to any city with an encampment district (not very unique, though). I wonder how easy it would be to mod this in, actually. They could get a lot of mileage by adding new leaders to the various civs to represent different time periods or dynasties or regions. Basically add a bunch of leaders to India or China.
