Yoshino is in the match because everyone sometime this year (but especially the RED participants) has gone after him trying to be the people who retired him. It’s the most valuable thing in DG right now is claiming his retirement.

The RED guys have been at each other’s throats this year. Eita has been a dick calling Shimizu and Hulk his underlings. Shimizu had a terrible losing streak most of this year. Hulk more plays into the DG guys but has had a bunch of misfires at Eita’s expense.

YAMATO and KAI both want to wreck Hulk for being the red demon mask in December and turning on Tribe Vanguard to join RED. If they get their hands on the other three, that’s an added bonus.

I love it extremely a lot. It's such a nice & wholesome group & Kento reacting to Jiro's endless entrance never ever gets old with me.

Thought both title matches today were very good but especially the main event. And Omori really surprised me how well he's fit into Enfants. Not sure how I felt about the finish of it (ET really do need to get back to winning before their momentum completely evaporates)

Dude is so young, just 21 but yeah, a lot of promise & he's kind of being described as on "excursion" in All Japan so I guess he's spending a lot of the time at the Dojo this year.

Anyway, I was looking at the Ehime Pro Wrestling website & they seem quite nice, it's all "we want wrestling to be as big a tourist attraction for Ehime as cycling!" And also there's Taro, the weakest child in the world: https://ehime-pro.com/wrestler/madori.html

There's not really much of one unfortunately. I check r/AJPW & it's a decent little (emphasis on the little) community with cards for the shows & links to classic matches & news etc, but more than that Voices of Wrestling do decent reviews of most shows that air on AJPW tv which you could gather stories from. The two bummers is the lack of an equivalent of Dramatic DDT or Hisame for AJPW along with the absence of live translations on social media.

But I suppose I can try to summarise where we are in the July 2020 through this year. The biggest story of the year so far has been the addition of Enfants Terribles, the trio of Shotaro Ashino, Yusuke Kodama & Kuma Arashi who all arrived after Wrestle-1 shut its doors in April. They came in on the first of the AJPW TV shows (which were almost-weekly no-fan shows that I really loved watching) & built from there to Ashino challenging Suwama for the Triple Crown. Since then they've added young boy Hokuto Omori to the mix & he has fit in really well to what's a heel group. The main face group is Evolution with Suwama, Yusuke Okada, Hikaru Sato & young boy Dan Tamura plus adjecent member Shuji Ishikawa who is one half of the Violent Giants tag team with Suwama. Obviously GWB mentioned Kento's new group, the Big Adventure, you've got the company's ace Miyahara, promising Italian youngster Akira Franceso, promising outsider Rising HAYATO & Jiro "Ikemen" Kuroshio who is incredibly charismatic & was apparently meant to be WWE bound at some point (or at least NXT Japan?) but then that seems to all be on hold and he's been a welcome addition to All Japan.

Another face group is JIN which is fully of promising wrestlers, the vet of the group is Jake Lee but they have the currently injured Naoya Nomura, Fuminori Abe from Basara, Ayato Yoshida from 2AW & new Jr Champ Koji Iwamoto. There's also the heel group Purple Haze who came in & were very anti-AJPW in a sense that they almost felt Bullet Club like in their interference & shenanigans but that seems to have died back with the virus: I have no idea if Lucas Steele will ever come back so right now it seems to just Zeus, Izanagi & UTAMARO, no idea if Shigehiro Irie is done with AJPW or not but he's not appeared in the no-fan era. There's also Gianni Valletta who is a Maltese guy with a kind of Bruiser Brody style gimmick & he was looking like being linked to Purple Haze before everything happened with the pandemic.

Apart from Enfants the big story was Kento coming into the year chasing down Toshiaki Kawada's record for most successful Triple Crown defences in one reign, & the feeling was Kento would beat that & hold onto the belt until the Champion Carnival where he'd face the winner of that which was reckoned to be Naoya Nomura, who'd finally knock off the champ. But first Nomura got hurt & then the Carnival got cancelled & then Suwama pulled off the upset of upsets in the last AJPW show with fans for 4 months. The Carnival is due to run in September now & we're waiting to find out who will be in it, that's revealed on August 8th. The other most notably thing of 2020 has been with the Junior Heavyweight title. It was held by Atsushi Aoki until his death last June & then went on hold. There was a 4 man tournament to crown a new champ at the January New Years War Korakuen shows & Dragon Gate veteran Susumu Yokosuka ended up winning & it's really been a case of for months he's just steadily helped right the ship there after such a traumatic loss last summer. Susumu is one of the most consistently "good" wrestlers in the world (don't go in expecting *****, but ***3/4 is sort of his minimum effort) & has been an excellent veteran hand to have working with people like Iwamoto & Akira Francesco. He ended up with 6 defences, including one in Dragon Gate featuring Hokuto Omori which was very good but the truth is that none of his matches have been bad.

I guess the last thing that leaps out to me is that at the end of the latest show, Kento & Jiro challenged Suwama & Ishikawa for the Tag Team Titles, a match which should happen August 30th & will be rad.

This is somewhat similar to my memories of Go Shiozaki. Only really remembered him from his time in ROH until 2008, and then when I saw him in a NOAH match late last year, I couldn't recognize him at all. With blonde hair and his beard shaved off he looks younger now than he did in ROH 12 years ago.

There's some good shows this week. Including those 20th anniversary of the first NOAH shows, which kind of...not the most amazing shows considering the occasion. Title matches should be good at least, & the Stinger vs not-RATEL's & Sugiuragun vs Kongo matches on Day 2 should be fun enough. But throw them on top of the DG show, & fun 2AW & Zero1 shows, it's not bad.
