Once I was waiting in a pharmacy and this lady was there with her small grandson getting a prescription for him, and she was just losing her mind about this prescription that, I guess, the kid's mom had asked her to pick up. She just kept asking the pharmacy tech, over and over, if this was an antibiotic, and then going into a rant about how antibiotics are poison that only kill things and don't heal you!!!! And if this is an antibiotic she wasn't going to get it! It was not an antibiotic. It was an antifungal. But Karen didn't seem to know what that meant, so she just kept ranting about how she wasn't going to let her grandson have antibiotics. To be honest, I'm not sure she really understood what an antibiotic was, except that she'd got it into her head that they were "bad" for whatever reason, and by god she was going to educate this poor pharmacy tech about the evils of amoxicillin. I do like to imagine the mindset that means killing bacteria is a terrible crime, but killing fungi is totally fine, though.

He's bent out of shape because he doesn't want to wear a mask personally because he's a shithead, and the state had a viral post that was something like "ew, not wearing a mask? So gross!" and he took offense. To be perfectly fair, there are people who have difficulty wearing masks due to severe medical issues and those people should never be mocked. Those people also make up the vast minority of Shitheads Who Won't Wear A Goddamned Mask. Also Russ is an alcoholic who has had two women file protection orders against him after he beat them.

But there are three people in the office who don't sound like they're trying to force their lungs out who filled out waivers saying they can't wear one for medical reasons and it fills me with rage.

In my experience, more of the legit "I can't wear a mask" isn't even from like respiratory reasons, it's more severe PTSD, autism, claustrophobia (or something closely related?) or other neuro or pysch reasons. Also, folks I know with those issues have been trying out face shields, making trips during business lulls so they can get out faster, making efforts in work environments to isolate more so they get more maskless time, etc. 100% successful? Maybe not, but they at least looked into alternatives and have given mask life a go before saying they can't.

But the rules here in PA do specify that exemption in section 3 and provide some examples: https://www.governor.pa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/20200701-SOH-Universal-Face-Coverings-Order.pdf Exemptions include people who can't take a mask off by themselves and those who want to communicate with someone who needs to read lips. Dr. Levine is doing a good job here and she's incredibly unfairly maligned because she made a rule that's unpopular with CHUDs and because she's trans it's an even bigger target on her back.

None of the 'I can't wear a mask in the store' stuff is legit anyway. The 'reasonable accommodation' is them ordering and doing curbside pick-up or working from home, in an office setting. No card magically makes you able to ignore wearing masks in the midst of a global pandemic.
