If the season was cancelled right now the M's would have qualified for a playoff spot and that counts and the drought is over, boys.

MorrisBae posted:[Are you dying? There's no dying in baseball!] It's too bad the thread title doesn't have enough space to include this as well. So, if MLB pulls the plug in the next couple of weeks, how much damage does this do to the league? It would be one thing if they were the only league trying to play, but the NBA is just clowning them in terms of presentation and professionalism right now.

Jeff passan is a funny guy on lebatard and has good taste in music but he’s come off really poorly since the restart imo. Carrying water for this enterprise is embarrassing

Teddybear posted:How is he worse than Selig? Selig took the battered remains of the Seattle Pilots and ran it successfully as a medium-small market for decades, including some not so great times for MLB as a whole. He cultivated influence among the owners, he consolidated that influence into power to do some stupid poo poo sure, but while his perceptive was absolutely skewed pro-owner (which led to some pretty ugly blind spots- Montreal? McCourts?) generally the realities of running an empire still counted. Rob Manfred was hired by the owners to break the union, full stop.

selig loving sucked but the one key difference between him and manfred is that beneath all of his grasping owner greed he still actually liked the sport of baseball.

Hard to call the Pilots battered remains being that they were only in Seattle 1 year as an expansion team. Also his moving of the team was extremely illegal which granted Seattle another expansion team via a lawsuit.

there are a lot of grotesque things that a sports commissioner is capable of and a lot of misery they can inflict by sanctioning lovely stadium deals, but manfred is really determined to kill people.

The Braves should've stayed in Milwaukee, it's definitely a baseball friendly town, especially considering how well the Brewers have been able to sell out games while never winning a world series. I know the Braves originated in Boston but they already had a team.
