Shahbazyan took a couple nasty shots and got completely saved by the bell at the end of the second. It probably wouldn't have been too controversial to stop the fight between rounds but Herb let it continue giving Shahbazyan an extremely short leash and stopped the fight very quickly into the third basically as soon as he started taking damage. Perfectly fine stoppage in my eyes

As a big Herb Dean critic I think he actually did a good job tonight. Shahbazyan got super hosed up at the end of the second round but it was RIGHT at the end of the round so there wasn't really time for a stoppage, but he was visibly compromised, so Herb brought in the doctor between rounds, made sure he was okay and wanted to continue, and when like 20 seconds into the third round he was getting ragdolled and it became clear he was too compromised to continue Herb jumped in and stopped it before he could take any unnecessary punishment. It wasn't bad.

Shahbazyan's corner, on the other hand, should be loving ashamed of themselves. There was no reason to send him out for the third round, he was done.

Shahbazyan basically got flash KO'd at the very end of the 2nd.

Herb brought in a doctor to check before the start of the 3rd, and then called it after Brunson landed like 3 shots on the ground.

Herb or Tarverydan could have stopped the fight at the end of the 2nd

Yup.

Also, I think the fight should have been called by the corner, doctor, or ref after round 2. Felder pointed out that it was obvious Shahbazyan was done when round 3 started. I personally blame Edmund the most. Herb did exactly what he should have done outside of stopping it at the end of 2.

I saw some folks on twitter say that Shahbazyan had been training under Tarverdyan since he was like 10, so you'd think coach Edmond would give the slightest poo poo about Edmen's health and or safety, but W E L P

The end of the 2nd was tricky. If it had gone on a second or two longer you definitely could have seen a stoppage right there, but if you'd hopped in a couple seconds earlier Shahbazyan would be mad you didn't give him a chance to try to survive to the end of the round and then rest and reset.

But he had a bad cut and was getting pummeled, so yeah I agree his corner probably should have called it there when the doc was called in to check him.

Before a fight! Fainting after may make sense due to exhaustion, but two fighters fainting in one night does seem pretty weird.

I think his corner should have called it IMO. The saved by the bell bit was defensible, he didn't seem like he had anything medically that would stop the fight more than having his rear end beat, so it's up to the corner at that point. I thought Dean did a good job calling it when it was obvious there was nothing in the tank.
