Run 1: Samurai, Berserker, Beastmaster, Berserker   Anything interesting?: Believe it or not this might've been my easiest/fastest ever 100% non-fleeing (or close, I think I accidentally did it for useless Lightning Dragons) runs ever. Iainuki just eats random encounters and things it didn't insta-death were often paralyzed by whips (which is becoming one of my favorite weapon types) or crits. The inherited Agility of Whips was nice as well. Oh, and the different damage formula means Dragon Whisker misses less (so does Beast Killer). One of those runs where Byblos (or was it Liquid Flame?) is the hardest boss in the game.

Run 2: Bard, Black Mage, Dragoon, Ranger   Anything interesting?: Not really, I mostly leaned on Black Magic and Bard buffs. I got Rapid Fire but it wasn't worth it without good weapons. (I just checked my old save and I had 1 attack on Chicken Knife. Whoops!)

I swear I forget more edge cases every year than the rest of what I remember. Why wouldn't two whips be special bows? On top of that I Goblin Punched (mostly level manipulation crit-ing) most of the bosses after I remembered that existed. Mystic Knight and Red Mage helped that because they have status effects they can do that Blue Mage alone cannot plus a Libra and more accurate sword Osmoses. It's also hilarious when some of these bosses have their MP drained away. My favorite run... ever!

 Used Project Demi's reward booster to get into the low 60s in the hopes of getting a triple crown, but honestly wasn't feeling up to it this year. Plus there's an FGO event starting tomorrow and an FFXIV patch hitting next week so those will eat up a ton of time, so I knocked out the Void in a night.

Absolute powerhouses that way at mid/high level, although boy was my defense lacking. I was hoping for the ol' Monk/Dancer combo but this was neat to see. Oh, Geomancer's wind and related attacks work pretty well getting through World 3 dungeons most of the time but boy do I still hate that class because it sure lets you down when you need... anything.

Sixth run down. White Mage, Red Mage, Dragoon, Samurai. The entire end of the game was just Dualcasting Holy while using !Ianuki for random encounters. Shinryu took forever because I had to stab it to death, but I just chucked money at NED. Not a bad run! Didn't see an easy way to deal with Omega without absurd grinding and I had Dualcast on everyone so I was done with grinding. Gilgabot gave me another run with Red (for the fourth time), Mystic Knight (for the second), Samurai (for the second), and Ninja (for the second). I just donated $12 to reroll all four so I can hopefully hit the all jobs toxx without donating to get more than one job at a time. I am utterly done with Red Mage, god loving drat.

Random would have been kinder on you as far as learning jobs - you'll always have access to the jobs you roll, as opposed to rolling a job from three crystals further than you are or, god forbid, Mime - but you should be fine as long as you ask here or on the Discord if you need help. Being on the Vita means you're technically playing the PSX version (though hopefully with better load times) so enjoy your Y Burns and your Ultrapirate Faris, Yarr.

A friend of mine had a regular run going and got white mage into time mage, which I'm pretty sure is the slowest start possible for that run type. At least he had flails? To make it worse he got ranger, meaning he also had to do the library with that setup.

You can't exactly break rods over random encounters in world 1 and expect to make a profit, and random encounters go very slow when your only reliable form of offense is a white mage with flail.
