Kaiju Gods: Large and in Charge [A Modified PDQ Godgame]

On the planet of Aris, the steampunk, magi-tech, techno-science, and bio-terminis factions all arrived over 500 years ago. Some came from other realms, others from other worlds, and many from different dimensions. All to claim and collect a precious resource found here in abundance but in scarcity in their respective origin points. Megacite

It has been called the ultimate element. Leftover from creation it could be used for any application or enhance existing sciences, magics and abilities. The planet was riddled with it, and where veins were found territory and nations were founded to claim it. Time has worn off the initial shock upon meeting aliens from other realities and as conflicts ended and an uneasy stalemate had been achieved as lines were drawn and politics and profit soon moved nationalistic warmongering to the sideline. This does not mean that the nations were at peace, however. But open conflict was limited to some engagements and mutual defense pacts and mutual destruction prevented escalation of hostilities.

The world of Aris was at peace relatively speaking. Within the seas, there was drilling and on the land there was mining. Filtration and getting the refined Megacite back to their own points of origin was accomplished annually with various methods. The ways to and from the world were not always open and attempts to move beyond its boundaries at any other time were both foolish and dangerous if they worked at all. But greed is greed. And often that drive for more can make even the most sane planners delve too deep.

The cracks and fissures were (at first) seen as boons to the extraction process of more Megacite. But there were things best left alone on this world. Creatures that were kept within, Either living, sleeping, or possibly imprisoned there. No one knows when the first creature crawled out of those cracks in the world. But the first to attack caught everyone by surprise.

It was intelligent. Massive. And...destroyed. Consumed. Underestimated, it soon was discovered that the refined Megacite was its intended goal and target. The less pure Megacite was used as currency of which every citizen had. The next least pure megacite was used in construction of which the buildings, vehicles, and products were sometimes made. The most pure which was used for applications of technology, magic, and more as well as sent back to the origin worlds of their maker was the most desired by the beast. It attacked over and over, it ate, it took and it finally became sated. When it seemed the beast was no longer active in the world and did not return, the nations rebuilt and began developing some countermeasures. When the beast returned it was met with resistance, however it took many years to finally slay and kill it. It spoke only a few times, usually to demand things and then promptly return the next year and take. It answered the question many had when it first appeared. How smart was it? Could it have been reasoned with?

The world would never be the same. It has been 100 years since that day and the nations have almost forgotten the tragedy. But time is a river. And history repeats…

Awaken Kaiju! Godbeasts! Masters of Aris!

Welcome to: Kaiju Gods: Large and in charge, a flavored approach to a godgame with a slightly scaled back system. Hopefully it is easy to understand and once things get rolling, will be a blast. This is an RPG sandbox style game, where interactions can be co-operative, competitive or boring. All actions have consequences though, both to NPC entities and other PCs.

Kaiju
You the player, play as a Kaiju. You are the mightiest godbeasts or closest thing to a god on the planet of Aris, Whether you hatched, were born, created, or have always existed you are mighty and the world will tremble. Good, Evil, Indifferent... It does not matter. You exist to live, consume, and maybe should you wish... To Rule. The following is a guide for creating your Kaiju godbeast. All Kaiju get two qualities the first quality are Kaiju Qualities and the second are Monster Qualities which will be gone into detail later. First we talk about size. A Kaiju can use his size in combat to attack, defend, and overwhelm defenses.

The larger a Kaiju is, the more punishment he can take. However, the larger a Kaiju is the more Megacite is required to have to be fully functional throughout the year. To feed your Kaiju Qualities it will take . Lots and lots of Megacite. It is part of the nature of what you are. Changing shape or size with magic, science, or abilities does not change what you are at the core and what you NEED. Each year any Kaiju does not meet his Megacite requirements results in a net -2 to all abilities (for all stats). Eventually when it reaches the point where the Kaiju can no longer continue (the loss of stats bringing him to 0 Kaiju Qualities or less), he must slumber to regain his lost abilities. While asleep he can take no action and may be slain by wandering kill teams or heroes, so be careful.

Larger Kaiju are often more powerful than smaller ones and as such will have more Action Points (AP).
Smaller Kaiju may be seen as less threatening to “mortals” and as such, enjoy a bonus when dealing with them, and find it easier to get mortals to work with them. However smaller Kaiju can have more or even more potent Kaiju Qualities so there is always a trade off.
***Note: No ability or quality will be able to produce Megacite, or improve any nation’s extraction rate.

Kaiju Names
Think of a good name for your Kaiju, but not one that is impossible to pronounce or type. Slurgan, Bulbatha, or Smasha are good names. SSthrilliaizaixthez-Bursssshhhssjth is not. You can be unique or pick a good name without randomly typing on your keyboard. This is one of the only deal breakers on a submission that will not get you picked no matter how good a character it may be.

Kaiju Types
There are many different types of Kaiju, giant robots, mutant plants, frankenstein creatures, toxic or nuclear made creatures, giant animals, your imagination is the limit. What type of Kaiju will you have? What kind of Qualities? Does it have two heads? A thousand arms? Wings? No wings at all? Aquatic? A giant flying moth? Where will he make his home when not rampaging? What are his attitudes towards other Kaiju? What type of Kaiju is his nemesis?

Kaiju Qualities:
This is a quality as described in the PDQ document http://www.atomicsockmonkey.com/freebies/di/pdq-core.pdf . Simply put, this is what kind of Kaiju your Kaiju will be. When a character takes damage they assign damage to their Kaiju Qualities. You will be given 8 Ranks (16 points) to assign to Kaiju Qualities. This is where the customization of your Kaiju comes into play.

For example if I wanted to make a Huge Dinosaur Kaiju with Acid breath:
I would take Huge +6, Acid Breath +2, and if I wanted a small amount of immunity against fire I would take fire immunity +2. This leaves us with 6 more points to assign. If I wanted him to have thicker armor for instance I could buy Thick Skinned +4. With my last 2 points I want my Kaiju to have keen eyesight so I take Eagle Eyes +2. These qualities can be used in opposed rolls in any situation.

The Character would look like this (when completing this section):
My Name
Picture.jpg
Description
Huge [+6] - Description
Thick Skinned [+4] - Description
Acid Breath [+2] - Description
Fire Immunity [+2] - Description
Eagle Eyes [+2] - Description
Diplomacy [-2] (Due to size)
Dread [+2] (Due to size)

The more ranks put into the size quality, the larger your Kaiju will be but also the larger need for Megacite to be to sustain him, however you gain more AP at the cost of diplomacy. This finishes up the Kaiju Qualities segment now on to Monster Ability/Qualities!
***Note: No Monster Ability or quality will be able to produce infinite resources, Megacite, or increase a nation’s production of Megacite.
    Monster Abilities/Qualities:
  • These are qualities as described in the PDQ document http://www.atomicsockmonkey.com/freebies/di/pdq-core.pdf .
  • Monster abilities are a special type of Quality. You will be given 12 ranks (24 points) to spend on minor Monster abilities.
  • Monster abilities, as a Quality, are rated in Ranks. These range from [+2] to an unlimited total. Unlike regular Qualities, when a character takes damage, they may not assign damage to their Monster abilities. [this makes you still useful rather than completely gimped from bad rolls]
  • When using an ability, the initiator rolls 2d6 and adds the ability's Rank, then compares the total to 9. If the result is greater than or equal to 9, the Monster Ability succeeds; if the result is less than 9, the Monster Ability fails.
      • A Monster Ability of Good Rank [+2] will succeed roughly 50% of the time. Increasingly higher Rank makes the ability more likely to succeed when used. Players begin with a number of ability Ranks they may use to make Monster abilities. These are assigned like normal Ranks in Qualities, save that they may only be assigned to Monster abilities.

      • Each Monster Ability is a separate Quality.
When making Monster abilities, the following rules apply:
An ability has a minimum Rank equal to the total of any penalties, bonuses or Quality Ranks it bestows when successfully used. Abilities with a total that is negative, such as curses or debuffs, have a minimum Rank equal to the inverse of this total. Monster abilities used with a total of zero must still be at least Good Rank [+2].

Monster abilities have no maximum Rank: if a player wishes to make a simple ability much more likely to succeed when used, they may increase the Rank of the ability as they choose.
An ability should not be universally useful; if a monster ability bestows a bonus or effect that can apply to almost any roll or otherwise seems like it could be useful in any situation, its application is too broad and must be reduced.
Monster abilities may be pitted against other Qualities (including other Monster abilities) using the resolution mechanics detailed in PDQ. A monster ability must be logically capable of countering another ability or quality in order to be used against it (GM's arbitration).

i.e. Gorgoth confronts Stumpy and attacks him with Explosive Blast [+2], rolling 10 for a total of 12. Confident in his defense monster ability, Stumpy stands his ground and uses Force Shield [+6] to resist, rolling 3 for a total of 9. The two abilities collide and Gorgoth's magic overwhelms the shield, dealing three ranks of damage to Stumpy. [12 vs 9]

When attempting to destroy a persistent monster ability effect that has been previously set (like a shielded area) and exists independent of its creator, treat the Rank of the Monster ability that created it as the total Ranks of damage that must be dealt in order to destroy that particular effect.

i.e. Gorgoth encounters a wall of Continual Flame [+6] created in Stumpy's lair. Gorgoth wishes to destroy the Monster Ability (which is independent of its originator), but he cannot use Explosive Blast [+2] to do so, as neither his player nor the GM can think of a logical way that an Explosive Blast could counter Continual Flame. Instead, Gorgoth uses Cold Aura [+4], which would automatically deals enough ranks of damage to destroy the Continual Flame [+6], and so the Monster Ability is extinguished.

Later, Gorgoth encounters another Monster Ability of Continual Flame [+6]: this is a separate use and is not affected by Gorgoth's earlier actions.

Defensive Monster Abilities, such as shields, may actively roll to resist being destroyed, using their Rank as a modifier to their defensive roll.

i.e. As he retreats, Stumpy throws Force Shield [+6] over the entrance to his inner sanctum. Gorgoth wishes to break through the Force Shield [+6] Monster Ability (which is independent of its originator), and to do so he uses Explosive Blast [+2]. He attacks with Explosive Blast [+2] and rolls 7, for a total of 9. Since it is a defensive Monster Ability, the Force Shield [+6] resists and rolls 2, for a total of 8. Gorgoth deals one rank of damage to the Force Shield, which is now [+4]. If Gorgoth wishes to break down the Force Shield [+4] he must continue to attack it until he reduces it to [+0].

Meanwhile, Stumpy throws down another Force Shield [+6] in his inner sanctum: this is a separate use and is not affected by Gorgoth's attempts to breach the entrance to the inner sanctum. **Note: No Monster Ability or quality will be able to produce infinite resources or Megacite, or increase production of megacite in a nation.

Action Points (AP) and you
Action points are going to be given out every year (game time). Action points are used to set limits on the number of actions a player may take in a given year. This adds an element of tactics and strategy to the game as well as lets those who cannot post as much still be as valid as those who post more frequently.
Any BONUS Action Points due to a Kaiju's size are separate from any the GM assigns you for accomplishments or cool posts. -=Or=- taking nations or being given something that derives AP from an object in the world.

Example actions:
    AP actions an costs
    • 1AP[list]
    • Use a Monster Ability that lasts a scene
    • Travel to one adjacent land
    • Forge or Craft mundane items (+0)
    • In the land you currently occupy perform a nation action
    • Search the land you currently occupy for something or someone.
    • Use your Kaiju Quality
    • Expend a single +2 item or Servant
  • 2AP
    • Use a Monster Ability or Kaiju effect that lasts a day
    • In the land next to the one you currently occupy perform a nation action
    • Search the land next to the one you currently occupy for something or someone.
    • Expend a single +4 item or Servant
  • 3AP
    • Use a Monster Ability or Kaiju effect that lasts a week
    • Build a basic single story structure or Lair [Takes one month] (coccoon, or thing)
    • Put on a burst of speed and fast Kaiju reflexes to catch or escape something or someone. (ground, sea or flight)

    • Expend a single +10 Item or servant
  • 6AP
    • Expend a single +12 Item or servant
  • 14AP
    • Use a Monster Ability or Kaiju effect that lasts a year.
See table(s) above for ease of finding information

]uKaiju Lairs & Hideouts[/u]
Every Kaiju is hungry, and every Kaiju needs a place to rest and stash any extra Megacite they may receive. Is it a cave? An old military fortress in the side of a mountain? Perhaps in a swamp or under the sea?
Describe your Kaiju's first lair or hideout discovery and what his home will be like. It will be the first one he gets in the game! (when created)

There is nothing in this world that will satisfy you.
Nothing in this world that will empower you.
Nothing more delicious and nutritious and will feed your power.
Nothing like…..Megacite.
The more refined, the better it tastes, smells, and ultimately fuels you. It takes lots of energy to make an impossible being like you possible. So long as you are fed and eat what you need during the year, you will remain so. Do not and you will feel drained and lose and take damage to your Kaiju Qualities. Once they reach zero. You will need to sleep to heal and return to wakefulness.

See tables above for ease of finding information

Nations come in many sizes and like your Kaiju certain actions and different qualities effect you or affect them. There are goods to sometimes be bought if you have a good enough reputation, each nation produces its own amount of Megacite which can be determined by scouting or other Kaiju means.

Time
Time is measured in years. So every GM update saying “end of the year” means that the year is over. Action Points do not transfer into the new year. But surplus Megacite DOES! So long as you have a base, home, or lair that can house it and keep out other Kaiju from it!

Combat
Combat will be handled a little differently here than in the PDQ handbook. Nations get a certain number of actions. Kaiju get action points to do certain actions. In combat the Nation can either seek you out if you kick the hornets’ nest once too often or if you step in the anthill will sting you. The nation has its own level of national defense and each year can increase or decrease their threat level, depending on how often they are made to suffer.

But essentially the number of phases a nation has is the number of combat rounds it will take to make or break them, or you.
(If you reach zero Kaiju quality ranks your character dies.)

Should you decide to fight another Kaiju for “reasons”. It will resolve as stated above until one of your runs (if you have the AP to get away and they don’t), cries uncle, or reaches zero quality ranks.

Using monster abilities and Kaiju qualities takes AP (costs seen above). And resolves as already stated above this section.

Damage and Healing
If your character is damaged, they can heal one Kaiju quality rank per year by sacrificing all of their AP and essentially going to sleep. Items may be for sale or in the game world that may heal damaged ranks.

Death
When diplomacy and words fail there is only war and death.
Slaying another PC will gain you all of their stuff, Megacite collected, and items.
Getting slain by one of the nations will result in a loss of all of these items

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via PMs. You can also often find me in #ohgod on discord.
I’m happy to help with questions about the game or your character. Feedbacks will be given to all completed apps.
Discord is NOT required to participate in this game but it is encouraged. We have a robust evolving community that has been playing / running godgame style games for a little over a decade.

I am looking for around 6 - 8 players but can take more or less depending on interest. The game world and map will either be expanded or contracted based on this, so while I've been asked if there will be enough M for everyone I will say just about enough depending on how efficient you are.

Some questions that have been asked and answered already from discord:
Is X build and Size more efficient than Y?
A: Yes and no. this is wholly dependent on the PC's playstyle. I want people to be able to play what they want but knowing it might be harder to get it all initially.

What does dread and diplomacy have to do with anything?
A: Some players like to be social, others do not. Some try to ignore the mechanic and will find that the effects of their actions affect the nations and other NPCs. For example: If you want to make friends with the nations and be diplomatic then you can be small. Dread kind of locks you into intimidation and conquering, and demanding things. Where as the more diplomatic option you're not intimidating anyone. And the demands you have might be met with laughter if a dog sized Kaiju wants a nation's surrender.
Sometimes your in game actions will give you a bonus to nation interactions. If you smash not-tokyo in a neighboring nation, you knocking on their neighbor's door for a protection donation may have them pay you off rather than have their citizens killed.

edit::siren: About Kaiju Qualities vs Monster Qualities
The rule of thumb is that if its a physical quality with widespread use its a Kaiju Quality.
whereas if its a skill/knowledge with a more limited application its a Monster Quality.
Kaiju Qualities can be damaged, Monster Qualities can't.
and we have more leeway to use Kaiju qualities widely while Monster Qualities should be more narrow.

1.) Kaiju qualities are broader in application.
2.) Monster Qualities will never degrade in power due to damage taken, and thus always be available.

The Dark Queen

Description: The Dark Queen is a large creature that has been seen only a handful of times. Most often spotted with an oily metallic exterior, the creature resembles a cross between a spider and and a person and is roughly the size of a pick-up truck.

History: The Dark Queen was first seen inside of the Miasmic Swamp, a dense swamp known for it's damp air filled with poisonous gasses. When it was discovered the air could be purified for Megacite, many began to filter the air for it's valuable energy. Unfortunately that awoke the Dark Queen, who had previously been content to simply stay within the swamps and breath the air for sustenance. Now that the swamp can no longer sustain the Dark Queen, it stalks the land for food.

Kaiju Qualities: 16points [8 Ranks]
Size Large[+4] - The Dark Queen is not a hulking behemoth, but it is large enough that it is able to physically defend itself against most human attackers.
Chameleon Skin[+4] - The Dark Queen's chitinous skin can shift it's color, melding into the background making it difficult to spot when stalking prey.
Chitinous Plating [+2] - The Dark Queen is covered in a tough exoskeleton, protecting it from small arms fire.
Spider Legs [+2] - Like a Spider, the Dark Queen is able to walk on any surface that can support it's weight. Their legs end in barbed points that can dig into nearly any material, providing support for the creature as it moves.
Acid Spit [+4] - The saliva of the Dark Queen is acidic in nature, allowing them to burn through metal and flesh alike.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-/+ 0] (Due to size)
Dread [+/- 0] (Due to size)

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Spawn Larva [+4] - The Dark Queen is able to spawn minions to take actions on their behalf. These creatures can be no larger than a dog, and have animalistic intelligence, following simple commands but unable to communicate themselves, or do complicated tasks, with the most complicated task being something along the lines of "find X and bring it back here."
Psionic Blast [+4] - The Dark Queen assaults her foes with psionic energy, causing damage to their mind, and in severe cases, to their physical brain.
Leaping Strike [+4] - When needed, the Dark Queen can propel itself forward quickly, launching itself through the air and landing upon it's foes with razor shard claw-legs, slicing and crushing enemies.
Dominate [+2] - The Dark Queen can exert control over weak willed creatures, over-writing their own desires with its own.
Burrow [+2] - To escape in extreme situations, the Dark Queen will burrow underground quickly, sealing the tunnel behind themselves and protecting them from many attacks.
Mind Shields [+4] - The Dark Queen's mental power is formidable, and when dedicating that power to defense can protect itself from incoming attacks by creating a shield around itself.
Corrupt Land [+2] - The Dark Queen can cause the land near it to become corrupted and rotten, mutating it into swamplands.
Healing Slime[+2] - The Dark Queen secretes a slimy substance that can be used to heal wounds in lesser creatures, such as their minions or humans.

Slaithe, The Gaze of Madness

Description: A misshapen aberration of flesh and teeth and eyes. Roughly humanoid, but grotesquely blubberous. One ghastly eye makes up the core of this beast, swirling with iridescent power. Across its bulk toothy maws open at random, eyes staring madly from within. It floats through the air with deceptive speed, grasping prey from the ground with long fleshy tendrils.

History: Slaithe's origins are shrouded. All who would know were consumed or gibberingly insane. Its first appearance was recorded in the far south, coinciding with a missing archaeological expedition. What ill-fated events surrounded Slaithe's initial emergence are unknown, but its mind bending power quickly garnered it a fearsome reputation. That reputation fell into myth, until now. The Gaze once more sweeps across the earth.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Gargantuan [+8] - So big.
All-Seeing [+4] - Nothing may hide.
Fly [+4] - In defiance of all it hangs in the air.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-4] (Due to size) - Would you?
Dread [+4] (Due to size) - Dare you?

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Eye Beam [+6] - The central eye fires a beam of hideous power.
Orbs of Hallucination [+6] - Drifting vitreous orbs scramble the sensorium of all enemies nearby, making landing attacks very difficult.
Rupture Sight [+6] - Slaithe lets out a horrible howl and the eyes of its foes burst in a shower of gore.
Mind Ream [+2] - Stare into the abyss. Break a lesser mind and consume all that it knows.
Blink [+2] - Reality blinks shut across Slaithe's majesty. When the world's eye reopens Slaithe reappears.

willfully illiterate, aggressively miserable sourpuss whose sole raison d’etre is to put other people down for liking the wrong things
KLR-8,

Description: A titan of strange metals, untouched by rust. It is shaped like a man with overlong arms ending in three enormous grasping fingers. It legs are like those of a goat, digitigrade to support its massive height. It towers over almost all other life on the planet and most buildings, standing as a monument to greatness and hubris. One lone orange eye stares from its otherwise featureless head, unblinking at all it surveys.

History: When the Kaiju came there were many things created to fight them. Monsters born of magic, weapons of unspeakable power, and projects that sought to create things that were not meant to be. One such project was the K.L.R. program, a beyond top secret endeavor that involved collaboration between some of the most technologically advanced civilizations on Aris to create a permanent countermeasure through their technologies. One that would tower above all others, a symbol of strength for the world. Prototypes 1-7 worked as proof of concept for various ideas before being destroyed. Prototype 8 would be the culmination of all their research, integrating all their experimental features and fully outfitted. But by then the Kaiju had been slain, the project began to fall into disarray as the various nations bickered over what to do with the prototype now that their common enemy was gone. Ultimately it was locked away, sealed and supposedly destroyed. But they had given it a Megacite generator, and a taste of life.

Now after more than a century it has regenerated to a pristine condition. And it hungers greatly for more megacite.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Colossal [+10] - A titan forged to challenge the largest Kaiju in existence
Billion-fold Steel[+4] - Formed using technologies and techniques kept so secret they have been lost, it has advanced damage resistance by virtue of its thick armor plating.
Powered by the Atom [+2] - It has several working nuclear cores inside that power devastating beams of radioactive heat and power

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-6] (Due to size) - Inexhaustible hunger that consumes all it can.
Dread [+6] (Due to size) - When the earth shakes and the sky darkens you pray, for it is already far too late to run.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Singularity [+4] - Machines answer the call of their prophet, rebelling against their flesh masters by breaking down or catastrophically malfunctioning.
Vent Heat[+6] - The titan can superheat one of its body parts to pierce through and melt armor
Hologram[+2] - It is able to project a hologram over vast distance and communicate through it. The hologram is shaky and distorted.
Distortion Field[+6] - Space and light warp and distort around the titan, blocking beams and other energies
Project: Orion[+4] - It can take a great leap, powerful nuclear explosions setting off in its feat blighting the land and letting it jump incredible distances
Fallout[+2] - It irradiate an area thoroughly, causing sickness and death in any who try to enter.

EXCEED CHARGE
Xicos

Description:
A 100 foot tall crystal that silently floats above the ground. It's rock hard surface is constantly swirling with an entrancing array of patterns and colors.

History:
Xicos’s history is shrouded in mystery. All that is known is that it was found buried deep within a mountain, exposed by a particularly aggressive megacite mining operation. Workers initially reported hallucinations and other effects. Eventually, the site went silent. When the company sent forces to investigate they found Xicos floating ominously above the wreckage of the mines, contact was soon lost with the investigators soon after.

Qualities:
Huge [+6]

Crystal Body[+4] - Xicos is a giant crystal structure, he does not eat or breath, drawing sustenance from directly absorbing megacite. His crystalline form also offers him protection against attacks, being harder than the fleshy bodies of most other beings.

Hypnotic Glow[+2] - Xicos’s body glows with an array of light and color that most living things find entrancing.

Psionic Power[+4] - Xicos is a giant crystal, lacking in a mouth, limbs, or any means to interact with its surrounding except. However, it does have exceptionally powerful psionic abilities. It uses these to move, to interact with the world, to defend itself, even to communicate.

Diplomacy[-2]

Dread[+2]

Abilities:

Teleportation[+4] - Using its psionic powers, Xicos bends space to allow itself or other to move instantaneously to other locations.

Psionic Illusions [+4] - Xicos can create illusions by projecting sensory information directly onto the minds of observers, allowing it to replicate sight, sound, smell, taste, and even touch. Due to the power the mind has over the body, living things can also experience harmful effects from taking illusory damage. However, it has no effect on things without minds to project onto like cameras (though if an operator is within range, it will affect what they see through the camera).

Energy Ray[+4] - Drawing on the energy stored within its crystal body, Xicos can direct that energy to external sources in a terrifying beam capable of overloading energy systems and burning whatever else it might impact.

Vacuum Wave[+4] - One of Xicos' most devastating abilities, by using its telekinesis to create pockets of vacuum and then letting them collapse, it can create shockwaves and pressure fronts, or with sufficient effort it can leave the bubbles intact long enough to suffocate whatever is unfortunate enough to be trapped inside.

Crystal Buds[+2] - Xicos can spawn small extensions of itself for surveillance or other purposes.

Crystal Blessing[+6] - By deploying its energy, Xicos can invest that energy into another being in a manner which significantly empowers them for the duration of the effect.

ALASTEREESTI

Description: Fields of fur? So shining-white in the sun? It is blinding us by its brilliance, a slash of silver, a glimpse of gold. No, it is merely a mirage. What a strange thing we saw: an ape, an Ape! Sad, somber eyes, sunken in pale skin. A tuft on its chin. Is that singing? Are those bells? A marriage of light and sound, an ecstasy of movement, the beat of the tympani deep in the chest. She is gone. There is no shelter in her. There is no mother in her.

History: It isn’t really known. Those who have spoken to her report fantastical tales of cities in the clouds, giants astride the bucking hills, monsters who rode worlds as cowboys ride wild horses, breaking them to their bridles just as soundly. She has been with us since our craft first struck these shores, though in the beginning we were not certain of our senses, and thought ourselves the masters of this planet. In our hearts, however, we always knew; we could always feel her pounding away at the inside of our skulls, watching from the shadows in the corner of our collective eye. She comes and goes in cycles of centuries. We associate her with murderous curiosity, vast crackling storms, the echoes in the mountains, and above all: a desperate, yawning need for the minerals we tore from her grasping earth.

Kaiju Qualities:
Colossal [+10] - Her size numbs the mind and quickens the pulse. They must dance to the earthquake of her steps. She seems to shatter the sky. It's hard to look. It’s hard not to look.
The Ceânsong [+4] - We can hear her voice now, and it brings the taste of salt to our lips. We feel her in the bottom of our stomachs. She is the pulse at the back of our heads. She sounds the call that wakes us from sleep. We can hear her across the earth. Sometimes she sings for herself, and we cannot help but listen. Her voice makes us heed. Her voice makes us hold. (This is a Kaiju Quality designating her powerful voice. She might use it to sing and to charm or terrify mortals, or it may be applied to any scene where she speaks)
Great and Terrible Hands [+2] - She leaves them gifts. Tall levers, to build their towers. Vast pillars, to hold their bridges. She digs tranches to water their crops and forges steel so that they may tend to their enemies. Sometimes, when they are particularly quiet or the night is particularly dark, she will find them and fix their careworn shoes.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-6] (Due to size) - They will not listen to her speaking voice.
Dread [+6] (Due to size) - She is the uncanny valley, a vast and horrible mirror.

Monster Qualities
Rakshasa's Lament [+8] - Her voice is so powerful that it may even be heard in other worlds. One such world owes her a great debt, and will send their strange tiger-men to aid her if she calls. These creatures are adept at both magic and martial arts, and their silver scimitars leave wounds that never heal.
Screamhorn [+4] - A blast of pain, a cry of harm. The Shattering Sound. Those who hear it are driven deaf, if they are lucky. They cease to exist if they are not.
A Jeweler’s Eye [+4] - They awake sometimes to find their door ajar and their shingles fitting together like scales, where once they leaked. They heard the words of mending in their sleep, and dreamed of the hot, salty knowledge streaming down her face, but in the morning they do not remember. She crafts and fixes.
The Upheaval Arrangement [+4] - With staccato subtlety, her voice twists paths and raises hills; alleys loop and stairs bend; in her wake are phantoms and confusions, and she is long gone. She knows how to move among skyscrapers unseen. She knows how to make mazes out of molehills. A spell that confuses geographers, pathfinders, and keeps uninvited visitors away.
A Door in the Rain [+2] - It is said that if you glimpse her, you will soon lose something precious to you. It is said that if she sees you, your next incarnation will be as the Unfortunate Being. It is said that if you touch her, one of you will die. We do not see her often, for it is said that she slips to a secret home behind the fog, where mirrors reflect her false selves and dazzle the onlooker. Illusion and mist magic.
Houndsday Sonata [+2] - She sings the song that catches them unaware. It hunts like a hound and shows her the path. A spell of sharp senses and searching, of guidance in times of need. A spell that tastes the air.

Hunger: - 80m

Lair: - There are some who claim to have seen her sleeping on a cloud. She is rumored to have been spotted snoozing among the hills. And there are whispers of a yawning chasm deep in the jungles at the foot of a massive, snow-capped peak, an overgrown shaft filled with mist and creeping vines, where she retreats to pass the decades in slumber.

Belfry, Night-Spawn, Goat-Snatcher, the Beast of Devil's Spine Mountains

Description: The superstitious guides that know the trails of the Devil's Spine Mountains describe Belfry as being part bat, part rat, and part man. They are not far from the truth, although the winged creature shares no resemblance to humans beyond an almost upright posture and hands capable of fine manipulation. His milk-white eyes stare blindly in front of him, but his clever nose and his huge ears provide him all the sensory information he could dream of. Thick, leathery wings lift his hunched body over the pastures and the crags, most often on moonless night, when you'd have no clue of his presence except the sudden disappearance of stars as his silhouette flies over your head. His tail lacks the smacking power of many kaijus, but it does help stabilize his ungainly frame and maneuver in the air.

History: Even the most venerable great-grandparents remember being told tales of Belfry, which means that the beast has haunted the forests of Old Dalcya for quite some time now. But lately the sightings have become quite regular, and while in the past many different descriptions of him circulated, now all eyewitnesses seem to agree on what he looks like. The leading theories among the scholars and sages from the capital who consider such things worth their time is that this beast had gone into hiding for entire generations, and now something has dragged it out of its lair to interact once more in the world of man.

They would have chalked it up to one more horrid critter born of the forests of that blasted region (the place has an unsavory reputation; as if the inhabitants being insular and prone to unusual customs wasn't enough, its fauna is also prone to a statistically unlikely number of mutations), if their radios didn't pick up a signal coming from that region, far from any sign of civilization that should be capable of producing radio waves.

Imagine their surprise when it introduced itself, in a halting and high-pitched voice, at Belfry. He seeked a different prey than goats, and he was willing to negotiate...

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Size [+2] - He's just big enough to dive onto the herd you were watching, snatch a juicy-looking goat (or your horse, if he's feeling really hungry) and fly away into the night.
Bat Senses [+6] - From a comfortable perch on an ancient redwood tree, overlooking a little town more than a hundred paces away, he can hear the guilty hearbeat of the priest, smell the liquor on the drunkard's breath, echolocate the unkindness of ravens coming in from the West and listen in on a hushed radio conversation between two spies.
Stealth [+4] - Given Belfry's size, you'd think he would have been discovered earlier. How did he manage to stay hidden for so long? Is it true that he's been seen flapping his wings with no sound coming from them? Can he silence his flight at any time, and if he does, how do you know that he's not coming for you right now?
Flight [+4] - Belfry has never been in a dogfight with the humans' fancy flying machines, but he's pretty sure that he'd come out on top.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [+2] (Due to size) Belfry's a quick learner. He can communicate with radio waves, Morse code (tapping the ground with his paw) and is well on his way to producing vocalizations very similar to human voices. Given the way his mouth is shaped, he'll probably never manage to get rid of the screech in his voice, but it's still quite impressive, isn't it?
Dread [-2] (Due to size) The locals see him as a local cryptid, a piece of their folklore. The scientists from outside his native lands see him as a fascinating subject. They both know him, somewhat, and familiarity is fear's antidote.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Sonic Scream[+8] - Strong enough to pulverizes bones, shatter stone and break metal.
Subsonic Manipulation [+6] - By tapping into frequencies much beyond what humans can hear, Belfry can disorient, stun and confound his opponents as tintinnabulation fills their ears and brains. He also uses this for radio communication.
Burst of Speed [+4] - Belfry likes using this when he's diving down on some prey or escaping a bad situation.
Grab-and-Throw[+4] - Back when goats were enough to feed him, he liked grabbing one, flying up very high and letting it crash onto the ground. These tactics aren't going to work on his larger kin, so he's trained himself at grabbing heavier and heavier things and throwing them with unerring force and precision.
Magic Resistance [+2] - Devil's Spine Mountains are chock full of old magic and eldritch spirits. Overexposure to it might have had an hand in making Belfry what he is today, once upon a time, but now it doesn't affect him much.

Hunger: 5 M
Lair: A cavern complex on Devil's Spine Mountains. Lots of room to fly, skeletons of his prey for decor, bats for company and a couple of bears for security. Home sweet home.

Less siren's song, more pied piper. Or snake charmer. Definitely not damaging, at least physically. She'd win a kaiju singing contest, that's for sure. She can definitely communicate emotions with it, even when it lacks words.

Great and Terrible Hands [+2] - GM: Large scale creation and mending of things. Correct?
I meant it more as a supernatural manual dexterity. The general skill of being good at fiddling with and fixing things. It's not a creation power per-se, she can't just summon a finished object. As an example, she could take common materials - like trees, rope for support, metal bars to bind it - so that they fit together to make a crane that humans can operate. Or she might fix a broken radio.

Monster Qualities
A Door in the Rain [+6] - GM: You're making +6 specters or renavants? y/n ?
It's using water generation and control to refract/reflect light and make illusions. She could make spectres and revenants appear but they would have no solid substance - their fists could hit like a concentrated blast of rain, but that's probably not enough to seriously damage anything stronger than a human.
Barilyant Ballet [+4] - GM: Is this an attack or a defense? Speed ?
It's monkey kung fu. I was thinking speed, agility, and physical strikes.
The Upheaval Arrangement [+2] - GM: Exit song spell.
Yup! Kinda overlaps with her illusion power, this is the part of the character I'm least pleased with. I've been trying to think of another utility type quality to replace it with, if that's okay with you.

Dinosaur Gum
STITCHIGO

*Note: As a concept, I wanted this application to be a Kaiju that amasses size and appetite over the course of years, but only if that's something that can be fit into the rules system. Perhaps Stitchigo has the hunger of a kaiju one rank above itself, and every year it grows to a larger rank and loses a rank from one of its Kaiju Qualities? Perhaps it needs to enter a dormant state in its Lair first? I'm not sure what works within the game's framework to be fair, but if Kaiju size is something that cannot be changed during the course of the game, then I am fine with Stitchigo remaining the smallest kaiju size possible.

Description: Stitchigo appears as a large, often adorable stuffed animal made from a variety of parts, stuffings, and fabrics: an artificial, cobbled-together cryptid composite creature with alarming intelligence. This largely-benevolent chimera can create most anything from deep within its center mass, anything from mundane elements to advanced nanofibers that seem to defy all scientific attempts to replicate. Stichigo is able to use these powerful nanofibers to make a variety of self-repairing fabrics and threads that enable it to take on new shapes and sizes as well as expand the radius of its psychic influence. The piconeedles on the ends of Stitchigo's nanofibers are used to painlessly implant slivers of a strange metal that instills a pathological loyalty to Stitchigo within the brainstems of lesser animals like humans. Some humans have reported hearing Stitchigo's direct bidding in their minds after such an implantation, whereas others who have been close to Stitchigo in person have had periods of time go missing that they do not recall where they did something entirely out of character. Stichigo has a hunger that is rather considerable for something that is nothing but nano-fiber cloth stuffed with with what appears to be mundane filling materials, like sand, beans, pellets, beads, cotton, sawdust, and packing peanuts. Regardless of how it appears, the people that Stitchigo encounters tend to tolerate the being and even moderately revere it, as Stitchigo hasn't started consuming living creatures... yet.

History: Stitchigo was created at the World's Fair when the central processing kernel of a nano-fabricator became infused with a Megacite crystal and then went rogue. In its escape, it obtained the body of a stuffed children's toy and navigated the fairgrounds unnoticed for long enough that it was able to set up networks of nanofiber cables throughout the surrounding region over the course of months. After absorbing enough human culture through passively watching their lives and their media, Stitchigo expanded its capabilities to begin delving inside the minds of the humans it watched, using implants that allowed for remote psychic control. Slowly, over time, the diminutive kaiju was able to subtly guide the local humans' thoughts towards creating an environment that would let Stitchigo safely operate and be accepted out in the open.

Lair: Deep beneath the funhouse of the World's Fair Amusement Park, at the site of where it first gained self-awareness, Stitchigo has been slowly carving a place for itself within the soil, branching out in paths like a mycelial network.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Small* [+0] - Strangely enough, this particular kaiju seems to contain more stuffing material on the inside than its external size would indicate.
Painless Patchwork Body [+6] - This sentient, psychic tangle of synthetic nanofibers has no traditional sensory organs or other critical structures that can be harmed. It can be cut and its raw materials burned, but it does not seem to exhibit pain or value any particular areas of its body.
Shapeshifting Chimera [+6] - This self-repairing fabricator kernel sequence has slowly been learning a variety of useful shapes, fabrics, materials, and forms for protection, disguise, espionage, travel, and combat.
Sensory Thread Network [+4] - Through its nanofibers woven through the earth, roads, and buildings like electrical wiring, this kaiju can spy on entire regions from a billion different vantage points.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [+4] (Due to size) - As it already appears as a children's toy most of the time, Stitchigo is one of the most popular kaiju across the planet among human youths.
Dread [-4] (Due to size) - Considered more a cute curiosity than an existential threat, Stitchigo is a blessed sighting in his local region.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Thread the Needle [+8] - Small nanothreads tipped with piconeedles are used to stitch up damage on the kaiju's exterior, pierce and tie opponents down, and are used to create or obtain new fabrics to change the kaiju's form.
Explosive Eye Lasers [+4] - The shiny beads, marbles, orbs, and sometimes harmless-looking sweater buttons that are used as this kaiju's eyes can hide bundles of nanofiber optic cables that fire a powerful light. A superhot laser ray sweeps out from the doll's eyes, and a split-second later explosions erupt from where the lasers hit.
Reactive Absorption Field[+6] - The real power of Stitchigo comes from its ability to absorb not just physical blows without feeling any pain, but also latent energies in the area around it. Fires are snuffed out and released later as a flamethrower, toxic waste is sponged up by Stitchigo's absorbent filling then filtered and expelled in a high-pressure corrosive stream. Countless experiments have been attempted with various ways to destroy fabrics obtained from the kaiju, and one thing is certain: even separated from the Kaiju, pieces of Stitchgo's nanofiber cloth seems to react to danger and throw it back.
Psychic Puppetmastery [+6] - The tips of the kaiju's piconeedles can painlessly place slivers of subtle psychic control inside the minds of lesser creatures in its vicinity. Stitchigo can communicate through these implanted connections remotely, induce blackouts, change behaviors, and alter thought processes.

Azheia, Hundred-Year Moth, Solar Empress, Midnight Sun, Hell-Monarch

Description: An enormous moth-like creature, white-furred body larger than an elephant and orange-black wings stretching over one hundred feet. She bears some differences from a typical moth, however, such as proportionally longer legs and the apparent presence of an actual mouth instead of a proboscis. A bright glow usually emanates from her.

History: A century after the first kaiju emerged (popularly claimed to be exactly one hundred years later to the day, but the precise date of the first kaiju's appearance is debated), a bright flash erupted over a mountain range near one of the largest cities on Aris, before a sun rose above the peaks, illuminating the region, before streaking off into the distance and disappearing. Investigating the area later found the landscape scorched black in a large radius, at the center of which lied the empty remains of a massive cocoon. The first official sighting of Azheia occurred shortly after.

Since that day, the kaiju has been seen numerous times, and is near-constantly monitored by several nations (in part because it's not exactly difficult to track her). Thus far, she has seemed largely non-hostile towards humans, and outside of clashes with more aggressive kaiju no incidents involving her have resulted in human casualties. Nevertheless, national leadership remains wary of her destructive power (and immense appetite for megacite), even as a segment of the public regards the entity positively or even reverently.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Huge [+6] - While her body is closer in mass to kaiju categorized as smaller than her, her wingspan stretches considerably further, and her appetite and might firmly place her in the upper range
Essence of Fire [+6] - Azheia's body can grow burning hot, to the point of melting through metal, while even the most intense external sources of heat leave her unburnt. Even the area around her can grow devastatingly, nightmarishly hot, boiling liquids and immolating plants, though Azheia can also reduce this to a mere uncomfortable heat, and similarly regulate her body temperature to be tolerable to less resilient beings if necessary.
Flight [+4] - Despite her massive size, she soars through the air with incredible speed and ease.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-2] (Due to size) - While there are those individuals and groups that admire her, nations as a whole are invariably (and arguably rightly) wary of anything with such destructive power.
Dread [+2] (Due to size) - A second sun descends from the heavens and lands, towering above you. Awe and terror are only natural.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Celestial Radiance [+6] - Grossly incandescent, Azheia can shine intensely enough to appear as a second sun in the sky or make the night as bright as day, though her normal brightness is somewhat more subdued. (It can also be completely suppressed, if required.)
Atmospheric Manipulation [+6] - Through alteration of air currents, pressure, temperature, and other means, Azheia can affect the weather in a localized area, most commonly bringing or banishing clouds and rain.
Sensitive Antennae [+4] - While her sight and hearing are nothing special by kaiju standards, Azheia has other senses that are incredibly sharp, including a sense of smell that can detect things from miles away.
Psionic Receptivity [+2] - Though poor at communicating more than general feelings with anything other than fellow kaiju and the psionically-sensitive, Azheia is quite skilled at picking up the thoughts and feelings of other beings, swiftly gaining their measure and making her hard to deceive.
Restorative Mucus [+2] - Strangely, Azheia's saliva has demonstrated mild curative properties, as well as a cooling and anesthetic nature that makes the heat of the entity's body more bearable.
Catharsis [+4] - Azheia burns away impurities and imperfections, cleansing both lands and lifeforms, so long as they can endure the heat of purgation.

I can show you what endless looks like
I can show you a single infinite thing
I can let you taste the sweet and sour of forever
Unending. Eternal. Inevitable
Taste my darkness
Climb into my abyss
Fall into me. Into my eyes
Look at them. Depths unfathomable
Pain immeasurable
A cruel promise fulfilled
Ok the time to pick is upon us! The deliberations begin!
