Even has a Rob McElhenny cameo.

Yara's attempted rescue of Theon was even more pointless and featured a shirtless Ramsay making short work of 'the finest killers in the Iron Islands.'

in the Game of Thrones universe the concept of a "scout" does not exist which means Ramsay can sneak around doing whatever he wants

I liked Ramsay because they just made him an R-rated He-Man villain.

Lost is an interesting show in the history of television and engagement with the audience. I think there was an assumption that the viewers would pick up on things because they were discussing it online so fervently. A lot of them were really honed in on a few aspects though, and dismissed elements of the story as pointless or filler.

So many people thinking it was purgatory after the final episode is still baffling though. They stare at the camera and explain it.

nah they really hosed up that final season. was there any reason to spend so much time with the afterlife stuff beyond fooling the audience into thinking it was an alternate time and filling up time?

if anything lost pioneered the D&D style of making a good show and then retroactively ruining it with a godawful ending

Started a re-watch with a couple of my kids (15, 13). We had never let them see it before. Man, I truly forgot how many boobs there were in the first couple seasons. I've only been skipping the gratuitous sex scenes (Jamie/Cersei, Dany rape, some Littlefinger brothel scenes, etc). They're pretty hooked and are enjoying it. It's funny how they're all like "Robb is great! I hate Joffrey! The first few seasons are so good.

I just cannot wrap my head around the notion of horrific violence being fine but some tits are going to break a kid's brain. Not you specifically, the whole notion of it, as someone who experienced the same thing as well across multiple parental figures.

Honestly the real thing is that horrific violence is just getting slathered in makeup, whereas tits really are an actress being required to get her tits out. The Puritan hang-up is peculiar, but gratuitous nudity on screen is bad and exploitative.

i bailed on the show after that horrible teleportation episode in season 7, it was some of the worst poo poo ive seen in tv and instantly knew that what came next was going to be even dumber. didnt even finish the season much less watch or care about season 8. anyways ive been reading this thread and i dont think ive had one of my choices vindicated so strongly in my entire life

God that was such a great final scene for the season. Loved the non-verbal acting from Yara, and then all pumped up for her daring rescue.

And then....yeah.

It really was a sprint to the finish and I'm just glad I got an ending to the drat thing. They should give The King Killer Chronicles to D&D next. And then once they're done with that if Berzerk hasn't finished, turn them loose on that.

lmao now im imagining damon lindeloff and co as the ultimate way to force writers to wrap poo poo out.

SADISTIC PUBLISHER: look buddy you better not miss the next the deadline. otherwise we might just have to give our friend damon here the rights for an adaptation...

I don't fast forward through the tits, just the gratuitous loving scenes ("play with her rear end"). And it's just not me trying to keep it from their eyes; the kids don't want to see it either. It's always an EWWWW and they hide under a blanket. I wouldn't want to watch that poo poo with my parents either when I was a kid.

To... prevent kids from normalizing exploitation of women? That's a good thing for a parent to do but it's hard for me to imagine any but a small fraction of parents using this angle.

Okay, that makes more sense.

It's a real shame how the show went but it's kind of to be expected, though I wish they would have stuck with trying to do a nearly 1:1 adaptation like that great first season was. But it goes out, blows up, and now the fact it has a huge audience influences how it went from that point, as well as giving narcissistic hacks dumpster trucks full of money, only increasing the trashier and more drivel-y the show got.

no you see, if you kill a few leaders of a house, that house's soldiers and bannermen who are in the same city all immediately convert to your side or straight-up die. it's how feudalism works!

also the fact that the Lannister army had been fighting constantly for years and had lost a few significant battles but they still were apparently the largest and most powerful army was very odd

This only really bothered me later, with New Daario. They already introduced him as this larger-than-life playboy caricature who styles himself ostentatiously, then off-camera he turns into one of a dozen beardy dark-haired white guys in muted armor. Don't get me wrong, Michiel Huisman is a far better (or at least less insufferable) actor than Ed Skrein. But if any character justifies a NOT muted look, it's Daario.

I mean...not the blue beard with gold mustache thing. That sounds like a lot. But lighten up his hair, at least? Let him shave? You could drop New Daario into the middle of King's Landing and he'd just look like Some Guy.

That always bothered me with the show. In the books people are wearing these over the top clothing but in the show everyone is wearing a variation of black leather armor.
