Biden's VP choice doesn't matter in terms of how Trump's campaign will respond, because no matter who they went with it will be a barrage of weak-rear end stupid lies and bullshit. There was literally no one Biden could've chosen who wouldn't be subject to the scorn of the cultists. There's no "giving Trump material to work with" because the GOP just makes poo poo up no matter what. They don't need any material.

Biden has never once really entertained shoring up the extreme left wing of the party except to do one better than Hillary and have an actual amicable relationship with Bernie. Trump is just going to run on Biden being the socialist antichrist and running that against Kamala makes as little sense as possible. Everyone's moderate (D) parents love Kamala. From a strategic standpoint it's a good pick. If you were hoping for an interesting pick, not really.

The CSPAM zeitgeist is like this close to being unironically pro-Trump, you can't say negative things about Trump without getting "well Obama/Biden/The Democrats are worse!" I can't help but look back on 2000 when the popular opinion was that Bush and Gore were equally bad and Rage Against the Machine put out that music video chopping up their speeches to make them sound the same. It's just amusing to me that There really doesn't seem to be a very coherent message about what is good or bad other than exactly how that story can be employed in a very specific context.

People are allowed to be less than on enthused about a VP, whether or not they're voting blue or protest voting. I mean, personally I haven't been excited about a Democratic VP candidate since... Hmmm... But it's not a pick that hurts Biden a la Palin, so it's a good pick from a n election standpoint. Helps diversify the ticket and cover some of Joe's weaknesses, so it's fine.
