Tactics Ogre was probably the first game I ever used the internet to find info for and it blows me away that this Tactics Ogre fan site still exists. The info there is still really useful and it covers a ton of non-obvious stuff in detail. Also love that a lot the sections are written in character.

Guildus: Hello...ladies! I get to explain to you what you can become once you've trained for a while in the basic ranks. There are some tough-rear end females on this page! Men, feel free to sit and watch this presentation as well--it'll be breathtaking!

The about me page when talks about his favorite tv shows being Married with Children and In Living Color makes this poo poo even better.

There any other old sites like this still around?

KawaseFan isn't old enough but it has the look and feel of an old site and a ton of cool stuff like these maps and I can see KawaseFan keeping this thing around forever.

I found https://www.spyrohints.com/index.html using Ask Jeeves circa age 5 or 6. Lead me to try typing in things like "raymanhints.com" and "crashbandicoothints.com" into the address bar with less luck.

https://www.metroid2002.com/ this is the first website I ever saw that detailed the concept of speedrunning a game. I spent half a day in 2005 downloading a QuickTime file of Miles's then record-setting 100% speedrun of Metroid Prime 1 and it completely blew my mind. This thread made me realize that some kind soul actually uploaded those early recordings to archive.org which Owns. http://archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Aspeed_runs%20AND%20subject%3AMetroid%20Prime

rpgclassics was my go-to for snes rpgs. the new site's around but hasnt been updated since 2012, bit the archive still exists: http://archive.rpgclassics.com/

i dont remember much from it but iirc it had some pretty badass 90s-00s gamer stuff. like the one thing i remember ws that the guy who wrote the chrono trigger shine mentioned whenever he brought up the sunglasses that the only good use for them irl was to check out girls boobs without getting caught and 13 year old me thought that made a lot of sense

There was an old RPG website I used to go to a lot called Cosmo Canyon and they had a parody FAQ for a fake RPG called Beath of Flams. The website is long gone but I found the FAQ. I thought it was funny as hell when I was 12 but it's just full of cringe monkey cheese type humor

flies out and begins saying stuff in Japanese. Then he
attacks, and he's really tough. He uses Buffalo Buffalo

http://www.smbhq.com was a mario fansite. At some point in the last decade they got a very subtle poker sponsorship.
The main attraction of the site was their fan content and their serial webcomic "Neglected Mario Characters" which might actually be the first sprite webcomic series ever http://www.smbhq.com/nc/ (non-poker mirror: http://nc.bibanon.org/index-2.html)
