Cody is who sold me on giving a poo poo about wrestling again during the run up to AEW launching, but now he’s not even in my top 10 on the roster, but I would never Always Bad him. His earnest Do the Work poo poo worked on me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the EVP that’s been most effective with their more mainstream partners.

Cody is a very corny guy but he knows how to get a crowd excited, problem is without crowds his over the top ending stretches don't have the energy to feel appropriate. If Kenny was still doing singles matches I think he'd be facing a similar problem.

Cody won't break most people's top 8 because he's the perfect mid card champion. Not good enough to out-shine his opponents, not bad enough to really hate on. When I went to Dynamite live (It was the Halloween episode) he was over as gently caress though. It was also the same episode where people started singing along to Judas, and Hangman cut the "Cowboy poo poo" promo which finally turned people into liking him for the first time
