My favorite BTBAM show is when they came to Monterrey in November 2008 and did a spin of the "Full Colors" set:

Main Set was:
  • Foam Born A & B
  • All Bodies (!)
  • The Rest of Colors
And as encore had:
  • Aesthetic
  • Selkies
  • Mordecai
It was loving amazing because they transitioned from Foam Born B straight to All Bodies and after like a minute of banter to allow for cool down, they just absolutely slayed the rest of Colors. Hell, I even danced a jig with a girl I met at that show during that one part of Ants of the Sky! It was loving awesome.

pulling my disgruntled old guy card (the only card i have really) to say ive seen btbam at least a half dozen times but only before they released Alaska.

saw them in like a 30 cap room on Long Island once which was sick and at CBGBs (RIP) and those were prob the best two shows i saw them at.

a quick google suggests those two shows were on the same tour just days apart, which makes sense.

then they released Alaska and went downhill oh well

I'm pretty sure I saw BTBAM open for DEP at the Mid East downstairs back in college but I never really cared for them so do with that what you will.

Busting out the old BMTH was a great choice today. Kinda forgot how good Suicide Season and There is a Hell... are.

I don't remember where I read that "There is a Hell..." is basically a concept album on existentialism and how, no matter which way you slice it, owning up that your life choices are yours and accepting where they'll take you is the best thing you can do with your life. It was probably super dorky, but drat, it makes for a solid argument. Especially for stuff like "Crucify Me", "It Never Ends" and "Visions" having strangely uplifting tones among all the grimmy metalcore riffs.

so much stuff i get kind of initially stoked on, save to some big catch-all playlist and completely forget about it like a week later.

sometimes cool to jump back in after a few months to revisit poo poo i forgot but it usually only lasts for that day. i guess it's a good problem to have that there's so much whatever-core out there that i get to be picky

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do too. It makes a decent home for bands where I only care enough to listen to a couple songs before moving on

I mean by and large this entire genre is forgettable riffs that make you pull a stank face and then you move on with your day. Sometimes stuff actually sticks and a band will have something that makes them click for you and stay in the rotation and that’s great but it’s always been pretty samey.

My boys in Daze of June just released a new single with a pretty solid feature from Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox. I can't link to a YouTube video since YouTube is kind of a shitshow in Denmark right now, but here's the Spotify link - should be available on all other streaming platforms as well: https://open.spotify.com/track/00GPhKf6mCAOZwIcESyoJy?si=yt5l-5aIQxe4FvGXZGtKsw

I prefer it! Mix is a lot more spacious & "proggy." Doesn't sound as brickwalled either.

The Djent-sounding drum triggers did catch me off guard at first though.

the lead singer's vocals have zero energy to them all, it's just a "sound"... a raspy raised voice. barely any inflection in any line he's ever delivered. in contrast, the clean singing guitarist actually injects some emotion to offset the admittedly talented musicianship of the band

gently caress i really hate this guy lol

Erra would rule if all their tracks were just the instrumental versions.

agree. but i actually also think the clean singer should just be the only singer and they should go in a contortionist direction. they are undoubtedly eons better now than they were when they were angry djent
