Agreed. I watched season 1 two years ago and I'm just starting season 2 and I'm struggling to remember who is who. I read a text recap and then realized that I definitely needed a video one because it actually shows the characters.

Dark is a great show though, highly recommend especially if you like time travel stuff. They did an excellent job of casting the young and old versions of the characters.

You’ve seen the official guide site, right? You put in what episode you’re up to so there’s no spoilers.

Every now and then Bob's Burgers leans a little too hard into formulaic things like Gene being "the loud and random one who makes references to pop culture from before his time," but honestly it's one of the most consistently good and funny shows ever imo

This space for Rent.
I'm a little late to the Ramy talk but it's one of my favorite TV shows of all time so I figure I should say that yes, it's sort of a BoJack thing where the protagonist is a deeply awful person, but unlike BoJack Horseman, which is interested mostly in like, fame and Hollywood and existential crises and stuff, Ramy is interested in things like conservatism and liberalism, religion and sexism, Islam, America and immigration and racism, etc. If you go in looking for a redemption story you'll end up so frustrated that you write an interminable screed which is effectively just a plot summary without failing to realize that, yes, you are just describing the TV show you watched, not actually explaining what's ostensibly wrong with it. It's also often hilarious (especially S1) and season 2 episode 9 made me cry harder than any piece of media since Schindler's List.

So, I would recommend it wholeheartedly as long as you aren't turned off by shows about bad people. (For what it's worth, I think the show is very good about, on the one hand, exploring why Ramy is such a terrible person, and on the other hand, not being at all didactic. It's a very compassionate, nuanced, subtle exploration about the ways in which someone like Ramy can end up deeply hosed up and terrible because of who he is and the cultures he belongs to. In two entire seasons there's only one tiny part where the show gets very slightly didactic, and that's when Mia Khalifa, a Muslim former porn star, cameos as herself, so I can forgive the show for being a little less subtle when it's dealing with a real person's life.)

It was a post just to vent about my frustrations.

I posted it in the official Reddit page and it is extremely controversial with the community split into two (though slightly in favor of my opinion).

Yeah, the show is all in all pretty good. And it is fantastic with the episodes that don't focus on Ramy (except the dumb Evil Eye episode). I agree that S2E9 hits HARD. I also enjoy how the show touches on a lot of topics that aren't normally touched in media such as growing pains still existing in your early 30s, the delicate balance of traditionalism, identity, and liberalism when in a conservative culture where you want to retain your roots, how personal code, even if toxic, may have a foundation for better character than one with no code at all, etc.

I watched this last weekend and agree. I also thought the 2-3 rap segments seemed like a weird afterthought that someone thought was a great idea, but just ended up out of place and cringe-tastic.

Like imagine if Live Free or Die Hard had a scene like this.

*Bruce Willis after sliding over the hood of a cop car to take cover from gunfire, motions to Justin Long to join him.

*Bullets are flying and Justin runs and slides behind the cop car. His backpack gets caught on the tailpipe and just as he grabs it, a bullet strikes the pipe.

* Bruce, sweaty and bleeding from the shoulder says, "Days like this will really make you reevaluate your life choices. You're young, what do you have planned for yourself?"

*Justin Long responds, "I'm going to be a world famous guitarist."

*Bruce Willis rolls his eyes

*Justin Long reaches into his backpack and pulls out a bright yellow Ibanez, a battery-operated amp and a pack of cigarettes. He stands up, lights up a cigarette, takes a big drag, and then he proceeds to play VH's Eruption note for note and just when you think he's finished, he breaks into Hendrix's version of the Star Spangled Banner as a bullet-ridden American flag flaps in the courtyard of a nearby skyscraper.

*Bruce nods approvingly

*scene returns to shooty shooty action

The rap scenes in Project Power are possibly more out of place.

Just finished watching Fury of the Demon which is a fun little documentary about a supposedly cursed silent movie short "Rage of the Demon". The film has only been screened 3 times (the last time in 2012 according to the documentary) because each time the audience as flown into a sort of madness which caused them to start beating each other. You get to learn about George Melies and the overlap in early Parisian filmmaking and ghost mediums and seances. I got a bit of an F for Fake vibe off the documentary in that the subject is presented as a combination of fact, rumor, and even some fiction without really bothering to state where one ends and the others begin.

If you like old-timey movies, occultism, and mass hysteria this might be a great way to spend an hour.

Streaming rights are insanely stupid. The sixth season of Bosch came out on Amazon Prime Video in April... except not in Finland. Over here it does turn up in searches, but is not available for viewing, because HBO have it on their streaming platform.

The Expanse is available in 4K Ultra HD on Amazon Prime... except not in Finland. We just get the 1080P of seasons 3+. Presumably the 4K version is available on some other streaming platform for a time.
