The performance caps off a streak which saw TUDN draw the most-viewed Round of 16, Quarter-Final and Semi-Final ever for the property in the U.S.

The thrilling 1-0 finish is the fourth most-viewed final ever with Total Viewers 2+ regardless of language, and the No. 1 rated on Spanish-language television of all-time with Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49 in the U.S. Compared to 2018/2019, this year’s final saw a +41 percent and +52 percent increase in viewership with Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49, respectively, on Univision’s networks.

There is some important context to consider here, particularly that Univision likely got a boost from those who primarily speak English but chose to watch in Spanish rather than signing up for streaming service CBS All Access or watching the few games (including the final) that were also shown on CBS Sports Network (which has limited distribution). And that only happened because CBS took over the rights in July, earlier than they’d expected (they were set to start airing the competition in 2021-22, but Turner exercised an opt-out near the end of June, which let CBS slide in). Broadcast CBS commitments kept them from using that network for this year’s conclusion to the Champions League, but with the upcoming 2020-21 tournament (set to start in October), CBS plans to show many more matches on TV (including the final on broadcast CBS). So the numbers may look different then.

We obviously worked really closely with the NFL, the management of Augusta National, including chairman Fred Ridley, and the folks at the SEC for Saturday. Going to Sunday first, we were fortunate that the NFL accommodated us and gave us only late games on the Sunday of the Masters, so we were able to do approximately what we did this past year, come on the air at 9 o’clock and finish by approximately 2:30 or 2:45 and then go right into NFL football.
Likewise, with our Saturday coverage of the Masters, the SEC accommodated us and moved the start time to 6 p.m. so we can get off the air with Masters coverage on Saturday at around 5:30.””The word ‘partner’ is thrown around a lot in this industry, but I think this was really a good example of partnership; everyone gave a little bit at the office to accommodate this. And I think it’s just going to be an amazing week for CBS Sports.
And I think the NFL will be helped by the lead-in the Masters will give it in our 4:05 window, which is good for the NFL. And I think our Alabama-LSU game that Saturday will benefit greatly by having a Masters lead-in. And I think the Masters will do really well being on this high-profile weekend, having NFL coverage follow it and having Alabama-LSU follow it.

Dislike. The Masters is the Super Bowl of golf, and y’all are preempting it for minor league NFL.
Sorry if that’s uncharitable to college football fans, but indulge me in some salt since I know all of our sports have been shitwrecked this year.

Last year, the third round had 9 million viewers. Alabama-LSU had 16 million.
If I'm selling TV commercials, I know which one I'm giving priority.
That's fair.
I'm just mad about sports in general and felt like griping.

Three of the power 5 are still planning to play (ACC starts this week, maybe) but for the playoffs the short answer is that we're not going to get that far; I wouldn't worry about it. I mean the playoff is still ostensibly going on as usual just minus the conferences that aren't playing, but let's not kid ourselves.
