Aside from Mike Trout, I can't think of someone whose talent is so routinely wasted. (I have a feeling Tatis is going to run along the same lines for a long, long while, if the Padres are any indication.) edit: (and machado I suppose, since even the two of them together with clevinger can't beat the Dodgers, I'm pretty sure.)

Yes, it kinda is? Red sox wouldn't be a winning team this year with Mookie, and Verdugo is off to a great start in Boston.

In fairness to the Red Sox (I know, I know), this has been their approach. Go way over the cap, reset, then spend again. The fact that there were ways they could've done that without trading Mookie (like not splashing 50 million a season on Eovaldi and Sale) is why the Mookie trade was more about FSG not wanting to have anyone on the books for greater than 10 years than tax concerns, but that's harder to sell to the fans I guess so instead it's that dastardly luxury tax's fault. Regardless that tweet celebrating the reset was dumb as gently caress.

Having that as a strategy is one thing (that I still disagree with but whatever), spiking the football on Twitter that you spent less of a billionaire's money is another.

https://twitter.com/ShiDavidi/status/1300849659557052417 Kendall Williams is a pretty interesting prospect. He's 6'6 and young as hell. Borderling top 10 Jays prospect coming into the season and I'm surprised the Jays were ok with trading someone like that, but I guess they've decided to accelerate the timeline.

Also, the Jays designate Vogelbach, Drury, and Gaviglio for assignment. I just looked, and Drury has a -1.1 WAR in 49 PA. I am impressed with that number.

The new meme going around is that 94% of SO-CALLED COVID DEATHS are from other causes, like heart failure (caused by COVID), pneumonia (caused by COVID) etc. This is because of how death certificates are written up -- the immediate cause of death (heart failure) is listed as the cause of death, although the conditions that led to the immediate cause (COVID) are also listed. In other news, 99% of people who died "falling off of buildings" were actually killed by completely separate conditions, like internal bleeding, or skull fractures
