So since the witch of envy killed and kind of assumed the powers of all the other witches, is it much of a stretch to assume that maybe they are imperfect replications? Like maybe the gospel is based on this book that Beatrice has, but Beatrices is the original? The gospel is an imperfect replication and does not tell the future. I guess it would work some other way. Maybe the witch of envy writes it herself. Anyway, perhaps the book Beatrice has is echidnas and that's her creation and thus the gospel is (part?) Of what envy stole from her. Just spit balling

Here are some things that I'm putting together: Echidna saw Earth in Subaru's memories, didn't seem surprised by it. You need to be mixed blood to take the trial, but the barrier only holds you back if you're half-blood. Subaru can take the trial, but he isn't held back by the barrier. When Subaru was taking the trial, the vision of his mother said something like, "You're only half your father, so you only need to be half as cool as him. The rest of you can just be Subaru". Subaru had his gate sealed off when he was very young, and always had natural spellcasting abilities.

It just seems like the "half your father" part is just referring to his father being one of his two parents (the other half being his mother). Maxwell Adams posted:Subaru had his gate sealed off when he was very young, and always had natural spellcasting abilities. I'm under the impression that being able to cast some level of magic is pretty common in this setting and Subaru's level is likely the level many random people have (that is only barely useful and strains him even at that barely useful level).

Julius did point out he's unusually compatible with spirits, and when Betelgeuse (who was a spirit) possessed him he seemed overjoyed about having a body that suited him so well.

There's only one food that I believe Subaru truly loves, and that's He Wei Dao noodles. Anything else isn't canon.

Even if you don't want to reread stuff or read ahead, I think it's worth it to read the side story books. The first one gives the backstory of Felis and Crusch. The second one is about Wilhelm's past during the civil war and actually has a number of connections to the current arc.

I'm glad to see that not all the other witches were blameless good guys unfairly villainised by history. Grey-goo-bunny witch was probably more of a threat than whatever Satella did.

Especially her last words to baru and that face she made at the end.

pure speculation: but Emilia has to be the actual witch of envy, satella doesn't she? GOD. Satella's unconditional love can only be explained by natuski subaru's seemingly unconditional love and skill at saving Emilia and it's the kind of thing that totally re-contextualizes their first meeting in the first death where she tells him her name is Satella. Its a causality loop and we know its possible because return by death exists. Also lol! The after credits is kind of foreshadowed by him not caring about the tome of truths being a better witch grimoire but also being weird about everything and supporting a half elf that looks like Satella but I wonder what his justifications are and how this will effect his relationship with RAM and REM in the future.
