Matt Harvey is so bad that it is depressing. He's not even at the bar of lovely veteran who might give you 5 okay innings enough of the time. I feel connected to him because I gave an interview for local NYC sports on the day he was DFAed, even though I actually was a tourist who happened to be buying gear to go to a Mets game the next day. The reporter's eyes lit up when she was asked if I had any comment and I just said, "not really, he's a bum."

So wait, why did Chapman throw 101 at Brosseau's head seemingly intentionally? Did the Rays actually do something the Yankees could feasibly twist into reasoning for potentially fatal retaliation or are they just 'ing in general that they're not leading the division?

The Yankees are mad cause the Rays threw up and in too much and so they plunked Joey Wendle to "send a message". Ok fine, you're mad about inside pitches and also that you're losing lately, but after that it ends. You don't keep throwing at guys after you plunk Joey Wendle.

Yeah Jomboy did a good breakdown and even with his Yankee bias he has a good point that even ignoring the Romine incident both teams have been head hunting back and forth for multiple games and it's stupid as loving hell and going to get somebody hurt. Honestly if I'm MLB I suspend Chapman and Cash at a minimum. Chapman for buzzing Brosseau's head, Cash for flatout saying "I've got a pen full of guys who throw 98 let's see how they like it." Also start the game tomorrow by issuing warnings. Regular old beanballing is dumb enough as it is, but both teams seemingly perfectly fine with chucking it at guys heads in triple digits is going to result in a potentially career ending injury and needs a harsh shut down from the league.

It wasn't intentional unless you think that the Yankees wanted to bring the tying run to the plate when they'd lost 6 in a row to the Rays and have won a single game out of the 10 or so they've played against them this season. gently caress the Rays for being babies about it and for Cash's comment that he has a "stable full of guys who throw 98"

Shinjobi posted:I dont think you get to say "gently caress the team whose dude we could have killed, what babies" Throwing at the head intentionally is a loving terrible thing to do. Chapman tried to establish the inside on all the batters he faced but let one get away against the lone right handed batter he faced. His stare also didn't help. I just don't think the Yankees or Chapman had any intention of headhunting when they'd already lost six in a row to the Rays and were only up by 2. Chapman has always been wild and I feel like he never has any idea where the ball is going. Chapman should absolutely be suspended. But the Rays' manager shouldn't come out and threaten to retaliate with 98mph when the Rays had already been pitching the Yankees batters up and in and had previously said that "The only thing we’re mindful of is, we’re trying to compete and go out and win" when his pitchers' almost hitting multiple Yankees was brought up in the previous series.

Chapman literally walked right towards the plate and stared down the batter the second he threw that pitch, even before the Rays dugout or batter had time to react. It was 100% intentional.

I provided videos to show that it's not rare for him to walk towards the batter after missing a pitch to counter your "proof" that his actions deem it so. and yes, Chapman is a huge rear end in a top hat and does deserve to be suspended for almost hitting a guy in the head, but I also don't think it's right to automatically assume intent.
